Exit with the new Honda CB 1000 R Neo Sports Cafe

Two MOTORRAD readers were allowed to visit the Honda Academy in Erlensee and extensively test the CB1000 R + there. This is how the Japanese top-naked bike was popular with the colorful mix of sports and touring riders.

Simply having a bike put in front of your nose, testing it and being photographed by professional photographers is the best way to spend a weekend, isn’t it? Two readers of MOTORRAD were able to personally convince themselves of this – Honda asked for a reader test ride of the CB 1000 R in mid-May+.

Readers with talented photo models

The six test riders arrived at the Honda Academy in Erlensee on Friday afternoon, highly motivated. Their machines were already waiting in front of the building, all of them brand new. It should not be long before the engines start. Because rain had been announced for day two, the large test drive planned for the end was brought forward, and after a brief theoretical introduction the start buttons could then be pressed. Station one: Bikes and bikers running in on the dynamic area of the Honda test area. Before we went on the road, there were still professional driving shots, in which one or the other demonstrated real qualities as a rolling photo model.

The technology of the CB 1000 R + was presented in detail at the Honda Academy.

The handling and chassis are convincing

Guide and driving trainer Rainer Kissner led the subsequent tour on country roads and highways, interrupted by short photo stops. First driving impressions were exchanged immediately. “Extremely hard, the seat,” said Jorg, who had traveled on a BMW R 1250 GS, after a few meters. Approval from Anja, whose Kawasaki Z 1000 SX probably also offers more comfort. But both were completely convinced of the handling and chassis of the Honda CB 1000 R +. Just like Patrick, who is more on the racetrack than on public roads with his Fireblade. He did not expect that the naked bike would also be so lively on the gas. “I would have imagined the Rain mode as standard,” he said, surprised. You didn’t hear anything from him about a bench that was too hard.

Press chief Erik Mertens instructs the test riders on how to ride the dynamic area.

Master mechanic Dieter was meanwhile standing next to his test bike and thought about how he could attach a roll of luggage. He liked the handling and comfort so much that he also considered tours lasting several days. “And visually it is really really chic,” he added. The otherwise polarizing Neo Sports Cafe look of the Honda CB 1000 R + found no critics. Not even in Markus. Logical, his R nineT follows a similar concept: classic, sporty look, lots of pressure, few frills. Markus therefore draws a direct comparison with the BMW: “The Honda is more agile, but not quite as stable. It feels very light. ”Tanja, whose FZS 1000 cannot keep up, also notices this lightness. Another plus point for her: “I fit the size perfectly.”

During a stop at the petrol station, Anja is visibly happy with the bike.

After a good 200 kilometers, the six testers parked their bikes again in the academy with the hope of being able to move out again the next day. Unfortunately, the weather frogs were right: rain. As compensation, Rainer gave a few tips in the morning for maximum safety on the motorcycle. And then the time as a test rider was over again. Everyone started their way home satisfied, with lots of driving impressions and great souvenir pictures in their luggage.
