Electric racing class is canceled

The organizers of the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man have decided to remove the electric class from the program for 2020 and 2021.

As the reason for the deletion, the Department for Enterprise (DfE), as the organizer of the TT, cites the insufficient manufacturer participation and the insufficient number of starters. At the best of times, nine drivers were at the start, recently only seven. Since 2010, the TT Zero has been an integral part of the TT as an electric racing class. However, the electric bikes only completed one lap.

If there are enough interested parties who want to compete in the TT Zero class within two years, be ready to think about reviving the class, according to the DfE.

Mugen bikes are absolutely superior

Mugen

Most recently, the TT Zero was won by Michael Rutter with a new lap record on a Mugen ahead of his teammate John McGuinness. The Mugen electric motorcycles have proven to be absolutely superior machines in recent years. While the Mugen pilots lapped the course in just under 18 minutes, the first chasers came in just under three and a half minutes behind.
