Updates for Enduro R and SMC R

Singles have a future at KTM even with Euro 5. The Austrians are bringing updated versions of the KTM 690 Enduro R and the KTM 690 SMC R for the 2021 model year.

The KTM 690 Enduro R adorns itself for the 2021 model year with cornering and off-road ABS, traction control and engine drag torque control as well as refined driving modes. Street mode now activates ABS on both the front and rear wheels. In off-road mode, the ABS function on the rear wheel is deactivated. The ABS itself benefits from a new modulator to better dose the braking force, which also means that it can now be activated while driving.

New brake for the SMC

As usual, the KTM 690 SMC R of the year 2021 packs the power of the LC4 engine into a supermoto. The SMC R takes over the new ABS module and its new setting options from the Enduro R. The front brake received an update. A new Brembo M 4.32 caliper bites into a 320 mm disc. The suspension wins thanks to new WP Apex components.

Single cylinder with some loss of power

The 690 single-cylinder has been adapted to Euro 5 for both models. A new catalyst reduces emissions. However, power and torque decrease slightly. KTM now specifies 74 hp as the peak output, the maximum torque is 73.5 Nm. So far, the 690s shone with 75 hp and 75 Nm. As before, an A2 throttle kit is also available for both model variants.

KTM

The KTM 690 Enduro R and the KTM 690 SMC R of the year 2021 will be available from dealers from January 2021. KTM has not yet announced prices.

Conclusion

KTM manages to lift its potent single cylinder over the Euro 5 hurdle. The minimal loss of performance should hardly be noticeable in practice and therefore bearable.
