KTM 950 Supermoto

Makes fun

Not an overworked Duke was caught here in final tests on the kart track. This is the ultimate fun driver, a 950 Supermoto, with which KTM wants to put a never-ending grin on customers’ faces from next spring.

It is now clear: the 990 Duke is coming. Exactly how
she in MOTORRAD 22/2002 and 21/2003
was shown. But the jagged design polarizes, not every potential customer can deal with the rough edges
of the big fun bike. That is probably why the marketing strategists at KTM came up with a great idea: Why not open the Supermoto scale, which previously ended at 660 cm3, upwards?
Some time ago, connoisseurs of the scene observed adventure models with Austrian license plates, which have enduro tires thanks to wide 17-
Zoller were replaced. Now, however, the test drivers on an Italian kart track were caught off guard during their final test drives with a completely new motorcycle, which every fan turns when they see it-
greedy speedster, mouth watering.
The photos already show how the new fun machine will go into production. With the 950 engine of the Adventure, whose output should remain unchanged at around 100 hp. That means the carburetors stay on. As a reminder: The Duke will receive the 990 engine with injection, which will develop around 115 hp. The chassis also comes from the Adventure, which, by the way, also applies to the Duke.
The entire periphery, on the other hand, is new. The spring elements, for example: the upside-down fork takes the axle in the middle
the long sliding tubes. Obviously, the suspension travel is somewhere between Adventure and Duke. A short wheelbase thanks to a shortened swing arm should result in crisp handling.
The Duke and Supermoto brakes are also different.
While the former is conventional Brembo-
The latter has pliers in front
Radially screwed pliers that bite into two floating 300 mm discs. The combination with the radial pump will enable late braking points.
All of the plastic is new. The tank appears almost as powerful as the one
Enduro, because it has to bunker its volume next to the tubular space frame and airbox. It can hold an estimated 16 liters of gasoline, that would be that
Action radius completely sufficient. The oil tank moves down in front of the engine.
The 950 Supermoto will be on the Intermot next to the 990 Duke in September
stand and be available in spring.
Which of the two fun drivers will the audience like more??
