MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR SCS and Dragster 800 RR SCS
Clutch lever almost superfluous
The two 800 naked bikes MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR SCS and Dragster 800 RR SCS can be ridden without using the clutch lever thanks to the Smart Clutch System.
After the Turismo Veloce 800, MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR SCS and D.ragster 800 RR SCS equipped with the Smart Clutch System for the 2020 model year. The system is an electronically controlled centrifugal clutch in combination with a mechanical transmission. Engine stall when starting? It’s almost impossible. The SCS was developed by the US manufacturer Rekluse.
Parking brake is on board
And this is how it works: You can start and stop without operating the clutch lever. In addition, the SCS automatically disengages when the motorcycle is stopped. That is why a gear is never engaged when the engine is not running, which is why the SCS versions of the Brutale 800 RR and Dragster 800 RR are equipped with a parking brake. The parking brake is activated by a separate lever operated by the right foot. A step on the foot brake pedal in turn releases the parking brake.
MV Agusta
The centrifugal clutch ensures a smooth start.
While driving, the driver only needs his left foot to change gear, as thanks to the Quickshifter only the gearshift lever has to be operated. The system automatically ensures a gentle frictional connection from a certain speed. The difference in weight to a conventional coupling is just 36 grams. Other systems, such as a dual clutch transmission, can quickly add ten kilos to a motorcycle. Couldn’t MV Agusta completely save the clutch lever on the Brutale 800 RR SCS and Dragster 800 RR SCS? No, because in order to start the engine in the first place, the clutch lever must generally be pulled.
Brutale with SCS from 16,890 euros
The MV Brutale 800 RR SCS costs from 16,890 euros, the MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR SCS is 19,390 euros. The price for the MV Agusta Dragster 800 RC with SCS is at least 21,390 euros.
MV Agusta
The RC version of the dragster also comes with SCS and costs from 21,390 euros.
Incidentally, the SCS models are not suitable for A2. For this driving license category, MV Agusta currently only has the 35 kW version of the Brutale 800 available, which costs from 11,990 euros.
