Some things are decided by discussing with yourself, listening to yourself and simply accepting a certain tendency towards schizophrenia. And now and then muzzle reason. This is how Dina Dervisevic, editor at MOTORRAD online, came to the Triumph Street Triple Cup 2014.

I stand in front of the Street Triple R. An exhibit. I argue heartily. And with myself: “Did you shit in the brain, girl ?! Where do you go, what the hell koscht ?! “, the Swabian in me railed. What can happen there! ”The ego taunts:“ It is much worse: you will be last! ”Even before reason can form a clear picture of the situation, my stomach grumbles – and drowns out everything:“ Do you want to go on the run? Then just do it now! “

Everything started – as always – quite harmlessly: Since 2013 I have been saving up for my first brand-new motorcycle. Shortlisted: Yamaha MT-09 and Triumph Street Triple. At Christmas 2013 my mother told me: “I ordered the MT-09.” Good. One less decision. The Streety will be my new one.

February 2014. The Triumph has not yet been ordered. At the IMOT in Munich, the MOTORRAD action team is exhibiting the Street Triple R for the T-Cup. I’m on stand duty, strolling around this one pedestal like a mangy mutt. For the umpteenth time I read through the offer: 10,990 euros for Street Triple R, all entry fees, X-Lite 802-R, LSL technology set, Bodis exhaust, Castrol package and Polo voucher.

“Well, do you like the Packitsch? It’s a great offer! ”Matthias Schroter, boss of the MOTORRAD action team, suddenly stands next to me, pulls me out of my daydream. “I’m just looking … very carefully. But I want to buy the Streety anyway. ”I think out loud. “Well, then it’ll fit. You wanted to go running more often anyway. ”That’s right.

The following night I sleep badly and cannot stop the exchange of blows in my head. My stomach, brushed for a riot a few hours earlier, doesn’t make a sound. My cell phone also stays silent. The family councilor interviewed by SMS has to sleep on it first; about the necessary family loan and about the degree of craziness of this project.

The next morning the longed-for news: “You are completely crazy! But we are too – and we are all behind you. “Yes! In the morning I look around the empty stand and spot Mr. Schroter. He’s standing in front of the T-Cup Street, I’ll stand by it. We stare in front of us. Arms crossed. And then I say: “I’ll do it.”

Now everything goes very quickly: “Sit on it, I’ll take a picture.” I could have imagined that he wouldn’t snap it for his private album … Seconds later the picture is on the T-Cup Facebook page . And the caption obliges: “We greet Dina, the first Amazon in the T Cup, who has just ordered a large package!” Now I’m hanging in there. Including scaredy rabbits, ego, reason and Swabian: “Ha, you’re not very clean, girl!” No, I’m not. Luckily.
