Back to the two-stroke
Peugeot has developed a new two-stroke engine suitable for Euro 4 for its 50cc scooters. It is now being offered in various models parallel to the four-stroke engine.
Two-stroke engines are light, simple and powerful – that’s why these engines have many fans. In the course of ever stricter emissions regulations, more and more two-stroke engines are disappearing from the range. Also Peugeot had to sort out its old two-stroke 50s. The Rangdangdangs are celebrating a comeback with the newly developed unit.
Significantly reduced consumption
The newly developed two-stroke engine is based on an electronic injection system developed in cooperation with Continental, which is intended to reduce fuel consumption by almost 20 percent compared to its predecessor. The new engine consumes 2.9 liters per 100 kilometers instead of 3.5 liters. This also means a reduction in oil consumption of almost 50 percent.

The new two-stroke is available in the models Speedfight, Kisbee, Streetzone, Citystar and Django.
The new engine also has both aluminum cylinders coated with Nikasil and Mahle pistons coated with graphite. The alternator output has also been increased from 90 to 160 watts. The battery capacity has also grown.
The new generation of engines is used in the 2019 Peugeot models Speedfight, Kisbee, Streetzone, Citystar and Django. Another new feature of all these models is the extended color selection. In addition, Peugeot has an equal-price policy: two- and four-stroke models are always available for the same price.
