Arrogance, courage or stupidity?

Content of

Cockiness, courage or stupidity? Why does Markus Ziegler compete with a Ducati Diavel at the PS-TunerGP? We pounded around the course with the fat speed cruiser and found the answer.

There are daring ideas. But one D.Bringing ucati Diavel to the PS-TunerGP in Hockenheim is damn daring! Markus Ziegler, the man who takes the risk, knows situations like this very well – after all, ten years ago he founded his motorcycle parts online shipping company from scratch. With the Ducati Diavel, Markus was concerned with improving the driving characteristics and pimping it up. The latter with parts from its inventory of accessories. Its bearings must be enormous, because no other TunerGP bike carries more carbon and titanium with it.

Arrogance, courage or stupidity?

Bring the iron and attack!

The chassis of the Zietech-Ducati Diavel consists of Wilbers components: At the front there are progressive springs in the stanchions, the rear is supported by a fully adjustable racing damper. The well-known excellent brakes of the Diavel remained unchanged except for accessory levers from Synto. The side license plate holder, which allows a clear view of the fat 240 mm rear tire, is visually successful. Courage, arrogance, or what? To be able to answer the question, only one thing helps – get on the box and out onto the track. So bring the iron on and attack!

The Zietech-Diavel demands strength and concentration

Unbelieving looks follow us, forefingers tap the temples of some heads, even deeply relaxed mechanics jump out of their chairs. Suddenly the pit wall is full of onlookers. An unequal fight begins. Sitting upright and strong wind is still possible, but this unnatural wrist position during hanging-off is huge. And the Zietech-Ducati Diavel demands everything from you.

The brutal start out of curves demands a lot of strength and concentration, as does the braking of the still 228 kilo load. If you don’t want to have the red lantern attached to the ring, there is no quiet second. If you want to bend the Zietech-Ducati Diavel properly with the powerful rear tire, you have to balance it.

After a few rounds of getting used to it, however, everything flows into one flow if you have the trick. The power crusier wants to be moved towards the inside of the curve with pressure on the handlebars while at the same time shifting weight. Once you understand this, it’s really fun. So you can put the Zietech-Ducati Diavel on the brakes, so to speak as “overtaking protection”. If you do that, nobody will sting past you before the apex. Firstly, the load needs a lot of space and secondly, none of the fellow campaigners wants to lie under it – if things go wrong.

However, the best thing to do in Hockenheim is to drive the parabolic steroids. At first, the speedometer finished at 254 km / h. However, if you choose a different line at the entrance to the curve and take a lot of momentum, the diabolical Diavel pushes up to 272 km / h.

And the answer to the question? Courage or arrogance? Clearly, courage! The power cruiser is a successful bike, well-balanced, with a lot of pressure and an endless number of accessories. Although the Zietech Ducati Diavel is fun on the race, it doesn’t belong there. She longs for the wide streets outside the ring. Sometimes past a car at low speed or with a lot of steam away from the traffic lights – that is their world. All without the hustle and bustle of the racetrack. So decelerated you can enjoy the wonderfully babbling sound much better. But nice to know that you could if you only wanted to. Very well done, Markus.
