Triumph Rocket III Triumph Factory Custom (2020)
28,450 euros and already sold out
EICMA 2019
Triumph brings the special model Rocket III Triumph Factory Custom TFC. The new three-cylinder then generates 182 hp and 225 Nm from a displacement of 2.5 liters. Only 750 copies are to be built by the TFC. It is already sold out in Germany and Austria. Cost: 28,450 euros (Austria: 33,000 euros).
The triumph R.ocket III is about to make a comeback. The new Rocket was shown to dealers at a presentation in October 2018. Leaked images of this presentation also showed us what is to come. A Erlkonig caught afterwards provided more food. Then the Rocket TFC Concept followed and now there is the real Rocket III TFC, which differs only marginally from the Concept.

More power and less weight
The completely redesigned three-cylinder engine now has a displacement of 2,458 cm³ with a bore-to-stroke ratio of 110.2 mm x 85.9 mm. Initially, Triumph named for the three-cylinder over 170 hp and over 220 Nm of torque. After homologation, the exact values are: 182 hp at 7,000 rpm and 225 Nm at 4,000 tours. This makes the longitudinally installed triple the most powerful series motorcycle engine currently being built and also the most powerful Triumph engine the British have ever built. The old Rocket delivered up to 148 hp and 221 Nm of torque from a displacement of 2.3 liters. The new three-cylinder of the Triumph Rocket III is not only a bull, but also a technocrat: inlet valves made of titanium, ride-by-wire control with different driving modes, single-sided swing arm, new aluminum frame, various carbon attachments, multifunctional TFT cockpit. Overall, the Rocket is said to have slimmed down by 44.5 kilograms. The dry weight of the new Rocket is given as 290 kilograms. The old Rocket III weighed almost 370 kilograms. It is shifted by a six-speed gearbox with an anti-hopping clutch.
triumph
The three-cylinder of the new Triumph Rocket III is allowed to exhale through short side pipes of an Arrow-3-in-1-in-3 stainless steel exhaust system, with two opening on the right and one on the left. The 7.5 x 16 inch rear wheel has a 240/50 tire, is guided by an aluminum single-sided swing arm and can therefore present itself much more freely. The swing arm is supported by a fully adjustable Showa Monoshok shock absorber with 107 mm suspension travel and hydraulic spring preload on the new aluminum frame, which integrates the mighty three-cylinder as a central element. The 3.6 x 17 inch front wheel is equipped with a 150/80 tire and is guided by a Showa 47 USD fork with cartridge system, adjustable compression and rebound and 120 mm travel.
Extensive equipment
Brake power is provided by a Brembo double disc system at the front with 320 discs and radially attached Stylema four-piston calipers, while the rear is supported by four-piston calipers in combination with a 300 disc and cornering ABS. The other electronic features of the new Triumph Rocket III include traction control, hill start assist, four driving modes (road, rain, sport, freely configurable), and a gearshift assistant for clutchless upshifts and downshifts. All features for a quick line.
The approach to driving dynamics is also evident in the new design of the Triumph Rocket III. A flatter handlebar and front-mounted footrests allow the driver to sit more upright in his new seat hollow behind the new 19-liter tank. The passenger sits enthroned on a small seat roll well above it. The rocket ends with a short rump directly behind it. The license plate holder sits on an arm supported on the swing arm.
triumph
The cockpit, which is based on a full-color TFT instrument panel, has also been upgraded. With this, the driver has the option of choosing between different display design themes and can also design his start screen individually. The new Triumph Rocket III also has cruise control, a USB charging socket, tire pressure monitoring and keyless ignition, and an optional Bluetooth module ensures connectivity. A GoPro camera and smartphones can be connected. Remote control is then possible via the handlebar fittings.
New Triumph Rocket III relies on full LED
LED is the keyword for all lighting equipment. The Triumph Rocket III relies on full-LED double headlights with brand-specific daytime running lights, compact LED indicators as well as a rear light and license plate lighting with LEDs. In addition, various extra-light carbon fiber parts catch the eye. These include: front fenders, silencer end caps and exhaust heat protection, instrument panel, drive shaft cover, heel guard and tank strap.
The new, two-part bench made of real leather with a seat height of 773 mm is variable. The pillion seat can be removed, then an additional cushion supports the driver. There is no choice in terms of color: the new Triumph Rocket III TFC comes exclusively in a double coating in “Carbon Black and Matt Carbon Black” with brushed details, golden accents and an electroplated 3D brand emblem.
Triumph Rocket III TFC from January 2020
The new Triumph Rocket III TFC will go on sale from January 2020. Triumph names the price 28,450 euros plus 450 euros for ancillary costs. The scope of delivery includes an individually numbered badge on the instrument holder, a special TFC handover package with a certificate personally signed by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor, a personalized “Custom Build” book, a TFC leather backpack and an indoor protective cover for the Rocket III.
Quantity, price and market launch
TFC only built 750 units worldwide. A total of 100 copies are planned for the markets in Germany and Austria. But they are already completely out of stock. The TFC is also said to be sold out in Great Britain and the USA. In Germany the new Rocket III TFC costs 28,450 euros (plus 450 euros delivery costs, incl. 2 + 2 guarantee), in Austria it starts at 33,000 euros (incl. Additional costs and NOVA as well as 2 + 2 guarantee). The Rocket III TFC will be on sale from January 2020.
Basic version follows
But rocket fans watch out: there will be a rocket life after the TFC, even if Triumph does not want to comment on it at the moment. We firmly assume that a more civil version of the Rocket III will be submitted soon.
