Triumph Street Scrambler (2019) driving report
Significantly more pressure
Triumph gives the Street Scrambler some updates in the 2019 model year. Among other things, the engine is upgraded, which now has 10 hp more. The new Scrambler was presented at INTERMOT in Cologne. We have already driven it.
Originally the Triumph S.treet Scrambler already presented in 2016. Back then, many fans of the Jurassic World movie recognized the Triumph scrambler model, which made a big appearance in the action film. After Triumph decided to auction some of the copies used in the film at auction, a suitable series model was presented at the EICMA in Milan in autumn. Now, almost two years later, Triumph is presenting a thoroughly revised version of the Scrambler at INTERMOT 2018 in Cologne, which is intended to continue the legendary legacy of models such as the T 120 TT or TR 6C.
Lots of updates, not just on the outside
The biggest update is likely to affect the engine, which now starts with 10 hp more than its predecessor in the 2019 model year. The two-cylinder engine with 900 cm³ thus develops 65 hp at 7,500 rpm and 80 Nm at 3,800 rpm. Triumph, the Scrambler donates, among other things, new magnesium camshaft covers, a new and now lighter crankshaft, a new clutch cover and a lighter clutch. A ride-by-wire system is still included. The two driving modes “Road” and “Rain” are new. ABS and traction control can still be switched off.

Triumph has given the Street Scrambler loads of updates in the 2019 model year.
Also new are four-piston brake calipers from Brembo, which are intended to further improve braking performance. 19-inch spoked wheels, the wide handlebars and the centrally mounted footrests are designed to make the Scrambler afloat for use on the site. Incidentally, the traditional British company opted for the Tourance from Metzeler for tires. Triumph has also worked on the design. So the bench was redrawn. In the front fork, a new cartridge system with 120 millimeters of spring travel should ensure even better handling and improved balance. The instruments have also been revised again. In addition, Triumph has decided to redesign the Scrambler logo.
Increased performance clearly noticeable

In fact, the thrust of the stronger engine from the very bottom out of the tight corners is really considerable. Up to third gear, the speed can easily drop below 2,000 revs, and the twin still runs absolutely smoothly. The twin sounds great, full, low-frequency and dull. What is new is greater ease of rotation. First conclusion: 65 such brawny horsepower are completely sufficient. And should it rain, the new rain mode with the gentler throttle response and more sensitive traction control ensures a good feeling.
The new telescopic fork fulfills its management tasks significantly better than before. It responds well, is comfortable and yet properly muffled. The significantly better four-piston fixed calipers from Brembo are always able to cope with the extra power. The seating comfort on the new bench has improved noticeably.
Conversion to 48 hp possible
With the help of a conversion at the Triumph dealers, owners of the A2 driving license can also enjoy the new Triumph Street Scrambler, because the Scrambler can in future be throttled to 48 hp.

The new Scrambler will be available in three different colors.
The new Triumph Street Scrambler will be available in the 2019 model year in the three colors “Fusion White”, “Cranberry Red” and “Khaka Green / Matt Aluminum”. If you want it to be even more individual, you can choose from over 120 parts from the official accessories program in order to adapt your scrambler even further to your own needs. The Street Scrambler is available for prices from 10,900 euros plus additional costs.
