Update: Yamaha FZ1
Crisp: FZ1 with ABS
It has gotten better, the 2008 FZ1. Because it now has an ABS on board, which is provided by the half-faired Fazer version. This means that Yamaha’s entire FZ fleet now carries anti-lock devices as standard, regardless of whether with a 600 cm³ displacement as the FZ6 or with the full liter as the FZ1. The four-piston fixed calipers brake the bare 1000 cc just fine. Effect and dosage are flawless.
Averaged from ten braking measurements, the 1000 comes to a stop after 40.5 meters when fully anchored from 100 km / h. A good value. When the front stopper is fully used on non-slip road surfaces, the rear sometimes lifts off at low speeds. This stoppage tendency occurs particularly at the end of an emergency stop with warm surfaces. Then the driver has to readjust the brake pressure himself. Nonetheless, the ABS clears your mind because it doesn’t waste valuable meters of braking distance. So the advantages of the thousands can be preserved for a long time. For example your individual design, beefy and short, crisp and cuddly. Or the upright, combative sitting position.
A masculine, sporty naked bike is the FZ1, which shines despite the fat 190 mm rear flap with neutral handling and well-damped, firm suspension elements. The four-cylinder accelerates well, load changes are smooth and gear changes are easy. The poor power remained below 4000 tours. The 150 hp engine, derived from the R1, only really lets the rocket rise from 7000 rpm. A little late for brawny country road use, because then there are already around 165 things in sixth gear.
Last but not least: Quanto costa? The FZ1 costs 10,365 euros including ancillary costs, 383 euros more than before. That is well laid out for ABS safety plus.
