It was said that there would soon be a worthy successor to the Honda Africa Twin: an XL 1000 V with the powerful V2 engine of the sportsman VTR 1000, allegedly even with a G-Kat. That was in mid-1998. Drawings in the press made the new one appear sleek and wild. Some already saw themselves in their imaginations
