A Golden Girl: The BCC-Yamaha YZF-R6
Content of
Who doesn’t know the TV series with the cute grannies. The ex-IDM motorcycle Yamaha YZF-R6 from BCC is also a kind of Golden Girl, but a special one.
While the real Golden Girls sit in Florida, itch their pensions and keep themselves and the neighborhood on their toes, the racing retiree from BCC still has to hold her head. Yes exactly – that Yamaha YZF-R6 from BCC in Heilbronn (www.bcc-heilbronn.de) is a true IDM racer who retired for a short time after the 2010 races and was then brought back from deep slumber by Andreas “Andykaze” Gerlich.
But one after the other. In 2010 Christian “Kelle” Kellner competed in his last season after countless years on this R6 used by SKM. At the IDM finals in Hockenheim, Kelle was still on the podium with the Ypse and secured a big pot with her right at the end of her career. Anyone who thinks that the Bavarian took the operational device with him as a souvenir out of sheer emotion is wrong. The burner went back to Frank Krekeler’s SKM headquarters and parked there in the shop window.

A total of 130 hp should arrive at the rear wheel of the YZF-6R.
Until Andy from Heilbronn came by, dusted her off and gave her a great service – and some renovations. In the meantime, the Ex-IDM motorcycle is on the road in the DRC and technically up to date between the IDM and World Cup regulations. This can be clearly seen, for example, on the fridge-sized Talea cooler or the slipper system from Vector-Racing for increasing idle gas when downshifting. It is clear that a lot of YEC parts (original Yamaha kit parts from the racing catalog) are installed on the R6. Not only are the YEC intake trumpets, but also the kit wiring harness and the kit control unit on the motorcycle.

The speaker limiter is activated with the left switch, the right one enables two different mappings to be selected.
A total of 130 horses should arrive at the rear wheel, which of course makes you want to gasp. So up to the ex-retiree and open fire. Measured by its dynamism, the little one did not damage the time in the shop window. It goes off like schnitzel, burns down the Hockenheimer Parabolika like a big one and nibbles on one or the other superbike. It is wonderful how unbridled and snotty the burner screams, how unashamedly precise he pokes inside on the brake in front of the Sachskurve and burns towards the depression. A slight twitch in the handlebars indicates a very light front wheel, which, however, builds up massive grip again at the latest when turning into the depression.

The fork tubes have a golden coating on the outside, and an Ohlins cartridge works inside.
Anyone who, like the author, has not driven six hundred in a long time, will be amazed. Because an R6, which is now six years on the slopes with the exception of minimal face-lifts, is still burning a lot. But the quick handling of this weapon requires a very clean driving style. And that is quickly lost on the electronically castrated superbikes that fix everything on the straight. So it quickly becomes clear that the ex-IDM-R6 from Kelle looks golden, but because of its performance it is simply not a Golden Girl retiree. It would be a shame to leave this racer to gather dust in a living room, shop window or garage.
