Bimota Tesi H2 for 2020
From October in Europe for 64,000 euros
The Bimota Tesi H2 will be launched on October 1, 2020. European customers can reserve one of 250 copies with immediate effect.
Took over in 2019 Kawasaki 49.9% of the Bimota shares, whereupon both manufacturers presented their first cooperation project at EICMA 2019 – the Bimota Tesi H2. Due to the Corona lockdown, production had to be postponed to September 2020, but now the time has come: The Tesi H2 can be reserved – for the time being only by European customers, but as soon as the model is launched, Bimota will gradually increase its availability to other markets expand. Production will take place at the Bimota factory in Rimini, Italy. A limited edition of 250 copies is planned, each with a specially made serial number plate.
Bimota Tesi H2 costs 64,000 euros
The price for the Bimota Tesi H2: 64,000 euros (this includes 22 percent Italian VAT). So around 10,000 euros more than the Kawasaki Ninja H2 R. What does the customer get for it? Kawasaki’s liquid-cooled 998 cc inline four-cylinder with compressor in an aluminum chassis. Bore and stroke – 76 x 55 mm – correspond to Kawasaki’s H2, the compression ratio of 8.3: 1 is taken over from the H2 R. The machine generates a peak output of 231 hp at 11,500 rpm, and the maximum torque of 141 Nm is 11,000 / min – which corresponds to the performance data of the Kawasaki Ninja H2.
The Bimota Tesi H2 is equipped with an abundance of aluminum milled parts and body parts made of carbon, such as the winglets. In total, with a dry weight of 207 kilos, it is around nine kilos lighter than the Ninja H2. The front and rear swing arms are made of aluminum with 100 mm travel at the front and 130 mm at the rear. The 17-inch forged wheels are fitted with tires measuring 120 / 70ZR17 at the front and 200 / 55ZR17 at the rear. The Brembo calipers bite into two 330 mm brake discs at the front and one 220 mm disc at the rear. Both electronically controlled spring elements come from Ohlins.
Of course, the Bimota Tesi H2 rolls on with the characteristic stub axle steering. "The front swing arm takes on the steered hub, which is controlled by the push rod. At the rear there is a conventional two-armed swing arm with a central spring strut.", explained colleague Uli Baumann when he reported from EICMA 2019 on the first draft of the Bimota Tesi H2.
