In general, the operation of the BMW C Evolution remains simple: all you have to do is switch it on. There are four driving modes to choose from, which deliver different amounts of power and recuperate to different extents. Whoever wants to use the battery in the best possible way, must change thinking and depending on the traffic situation between the driving modes: In dense, undisted traffic, "Eco Pro" is the most favorable, free route supplies the sail function ("Sail") most enjoyable and most economical forward You can often close hundreds of meters in front of the location shield and let the scooter slide. Ultimately, over longer distances, the permanent mental examination of the power supply and its use makes the main difference to driving a similarly powerful and voluminous combustion scooter; its fuel supply of 10 to 15 liters is usually sufficient for around 300 kilometers, so it's not worth worrying about on the go.

It's different with the C Evolution if you have routes of 120 kilometers or more ahead of you. The daily handling of the C Evolution is predominantly pleasing: chassis, brakes, seating position, windscreen, ride comfort and the parking of the vehicle have fallen all around. The very easy to read and well equipped TFT display is also convincing; Unfortunately, in its current form, it does not offer the option of smartphone integration, for example for a navigation solution. The displays of consumption and range are reliable, so that if necessary you can use the energy supply up to the last kilometer without surprisingly being stranded. The charging time of 5 hours from "totally empty" to 100 percent at the household socket is okay, at charging stations with 16 A it's faster if you have a special charging cable. The standard charger with a strong cable is quite a mess, you can only take it with you under the pillion seat. Of course, the available storage space suffers as a result. A full-face helmet or small purchases fit in.

The enormous weight of the C Evolution of 275 kilograms is hardly noticeable when driving, but clearly noticeable when manoeuvring. Luckily, reversing is made easier by an electric reversing aid, all you have to do is push a button.
Climbing up isn't easy
Getting on isn't easy, because the fat central tunnel – parts of the battery live underneath it – takes up a lot of space. There are lights and shadows when it comes to equipment: Activating the parking brake via the side stand is a perfect solution, and the adjustable hand levers are also very good. The quality of the halogen light is also impeccable; the light bulbs don't really fit in with the high-tech image of the C Evolution. Yesterday's underseat storage key operation. Apart from these little things, however, the C Evolution makes an extremely valuable impression.

With a price of almost 17.000 Euro for the long–range version including the highly recommended handle heating as well as fine comfort seats is not the question of amortization under purely economic aspects. If the driving pleasure goes into the considerations, it certainly looks different.
