The two machines occupy the same segment, want to seduce the same crowd. But they are very different. The Austrian seems playful, nervous, hectic; German is more classy, ​​more serious, without being bourgeois. Even the engines are sisters and opposites. There is a 4-stroke single-cylinder injection in each. That of the G 310 R has very specific characteristics. It is one of the few engines tilted backwards, and its cylinder head turns around compared to the usual locations. Thus, the admission is done by the front and the exhaust by the rear. Only Yamaha’s YZ cross-country machines had opted for such a layout..
This brand new 313cc engine boasts an 80mm bore and 62.1mm stroke. Ribs that announce a desire to take turns. With 34 hp and 3 mkg of torque, it cuts a good figure, but delivers no less than 10 hp to the 390 Duke. She does not make up for the weight. With 158.5 kilos, the BM accuses 10 more units. The BMW G 310 R will be manufactured in India, by the colossal manufacturer TVS Motor Company. Low cost, but not at a discount. This roadster is equipped with a silhouette with cachet, an inverted fork of 41 mm, a front brake caliper Bybre (sub-brand of Brembo) with 4 pistons and ABS. The frame is made of tubular steel and the swingarm is made of aluminum. The brand announces a top speed of 145 km / h and a consumption of just over 3 liters per 100.

In many growing countries, a host of economical and practical mid-size users will be delighted with the arrival of such a machine. A roadster from a premium brand, with false airs of S 1000 R and for a suitable price, it will stir desires. In our regions, the task will be tougher. On the one hand, it will have to sinter the Z 300 and KTM 390 Duke, but also deal with a low orbit price of that of machines in the heart of the market. Introduced in the fall of 2015, the G 310 R did not hit the market until the end of 2016.
