BMW HP4 Race model presentation
171 kilograms, 215 hp, 750 pieces
The Bavarian carbon athlete BMW HP4 Race weighs in at just 171 kilograms – that’s less than the current works racer in the Superbike World Championship!
The BMW HP4 Race’s good – and its developers probably had a lot of fun. Because it doesn’t care about Euro 4 or any other standard – it is designed exclusively for the racetrack. That’s why it comes from the factory with the reverse gearshift pattern – that is, first gear up, all others are engaged by stepping down. Various pinions and sprockets are also included ex works.
With a full tank of fuel ready to drive, it should weigh in at just 171 kilograms and deliver 215 hp at 13,900 rpm. That is 16 hp more than the street-legal BMW S 1000 RR. The maximum torque of 120 Nm is available at 10,000 rpm (S 1000 RR: 113 Nm at 10,500 rpm). The racing engine developed for the Superbike and Endurance World Championships serves as the basis. The maximum speed has also been increased for the BMW HP4 Race: from 14,200 to 14,500.

Price for the BMW HP4 Race: 80,000 euros
The carbon sports car will be available from September 2017, albeit in limited numbers: 750 of the BMW HP4 Race will be produced and cost 80,000 euros. Instead, there is a thoroughbred racetrack motorcycle with a monocoque carbon frame and carbon wheels, Ohlins spring elements (identical in construction to those from the SBK World Championships and MotoGP), swing arms from the SBK World Championships, Brembo monobloc brake calipers of the GP4 PR type , Titanium pistons, one-piece aluminum calipers, 6.75 mm thick 320-millimeter T-type racing steel brake discs and all electronic driver assistance systems (DTC, EBR, wheelie control, pit lane limiter, launch control).
Like the frame and wheels, the trim parts of the BMW HP4 Race are made of carbon, the tank is made of hand-brushed aluminum. The entire vehicle, as well as the engine, is handmade in Berlin.
You can read the details of the modified engine of the BMW HP4 Race in MOTORRAD issue 10, from April 28, 2017 at the kiosk or as a PDF for download here:
