Improvements are in the details
Fresh cell treatment for the BMW K 1600 GTL. The Tourer presented at EICMA 2016 will be launched in the 2017 model year with a number of new features.
In addition to the changes due to the Euro4 standard, BMW K 1600 GTL of model year 2017, especially externally changed. BMW has given the tourer new side panels to provide improved wind and weather protection. The two rear-view mirrors have also been revised and should now provide a better view to the rear. The foot protection and the storage compartments in the lower area of the engine are now standard and have also been slightly improved. The top case is equipped with a back cushion as standard.
BMW equips the new K 1600 GT with the electronic suspension Dynamic ESA with automatic damping adjustment and the two driving modes “Road” and “Dynamic” as standard. Also new: a reversing aid, a shift assistant for upshifting and downshifting without using the clutch and an intelligent emergency call system for quick help in emergencies. The new BMW Tourer will be available in the colors Light White, Thunder Gray metallic and K 1600 GTL Elegance (Ebony metallic / Black storm metallic). The BMW K 1600 GTL will be launched in June 2017 and will cost 23,900 euros (including 19% VAT).
Changes to the new BMW K 1600 GTL at a glance
- Adaptation to the Euro4 standard
- Six-cylinder in-line engine, among others with new catalytic converters, adapted data and an output of 160 hp at 7,750 / min and a maximum torque of 175 Nm at 5,250 / min
- Adapted optics
- Optimized wind and weather protection thanks to enlarged wind deflectors and windshield as well as rear paneling
- Compared to its predecessor, a more upright sitting posture thanks to the handlebars pulled further back and lower footrests
- Standard top case with integrated backrest
- Electronic chassis Dynamic ESA with automatic damping adjustment as standard
- Reversing aid as an ex works option
- Shift assistant for upshifting and downshifting without using the clutch as an ex-works option
- Emergency call for quick help in the event of accidents and emergency situations as an ex-works option
- New colors: Light white, Thunder gray metallic, K 1600 GTL Elegance (Ebony metallic / Black storm metallic)
- Standard equipment: u. a. ABS Pro, dynamic traction control DTC, xenon headlights, heated grips and seats, multi-controller, three driving modes, cruise control
- Special equipment: u. a. Adaptive cornering lights, daytime running lights, Keyless Ride, Hill Start Control, central locking, forged wheels
- New accessories from BMW Motorrad: u. a. Passenger running boards, additional brake light for top case, HP sports silencer, chrome parts, engine protection bar
