BMW R 1200 GS ADVENTURE 2008

OK – It’s not easy to distinguish the 2008 version of the Adventure from the 2007. BM focused on optimizing the capacities of this big intercontinental trail rather than on its physical aspect. The overall look is a bit more muscular but overall the change is less obvious than on the standard 1200 GS.

Most of the work focused on the engine and suspensions. The flat twin gains 5 hp, the gearbox a better feeling when changing gears, a tighter second and the possibility of ordering a shorter 1st. So more punch and better pickups for this big sand trap.
Intended to stick between the stones and the slush, and inevitably to put one sooner or later between 2 ruts, the Adventure protects its mill and its surroundings by a steel structure tank guard – engine guard – rocker covers.

To go far, long, worry-free and adapting, the GS Adventure has a 33-liter tank, allowing (according to the manufacturer) to travel nearly 750 km while driving at 90, a saddle adjustable in height culminating at 895 mm high, a large windshield, and various adaptations mentioned a little below.

Side part-cycle, oR 1200 GS AdventureNote that the suspensions are raised by 20 mm compared to the GS, and especially that it benefits like it from the ESA Enduro suspension (optional). This system allows, by simple
at the touch of a button, the springs and shock absorbers can be adapted to different conditions of use and different loading conditions. ESA Enduro also distinguishes between several road and off-road modes, within which the rider can choose between several laws for spring preload and damping in order to adapt his motorcycle even better to the specific requirements encountered..

Admit that looking at this photo, we immediately want to conquer the Sahel, to judge the banks of a South American river or to cross the desert of the agriates. It’s tempting and possible – but to have a machine as well equipped as the one you see above, consider that it went through the options and accessories box..
