Sports tourer with switch cam boxer

The new ShiftCam gearshift cam boxer motor finds its way into all Bavarian boxer models. The BMW R 1250 RS also benefits from the power boxer. Price: 14,400 euros

D.he new ShiftCam-Boxer, which has a slightly increased displacement and varies the valve timing and valve lift on the intake side, is now also used in the BMW R 1250 RS sports tourer. The RS propel 136 hp and 143 Nm from 1,254 cm³. The six-speed gearbox was supplemented by an anti-hopping clutch.

Appearance only slightly modernized

Visually, the new RS remains close to the old RS. The front spoiler, the cockpit cover and the upper part of the fairing were redesigned.

The new BMW R 1250 RS, which is available in a basic color (Blackstorm metallic) and two distinct style variants (Exclusive and Sport), is equipped with two driving modes (Rain and Road), ABS, a hill start assistant and traction control as standard.

Anyone who reaches for the surcharge can order additional driving modes, the dynamic traction control DTC, ABS Pro, Hill Start Control Pro and the dynamic brake assistant DBC as special equipment. For a few extra euros, the ESA chassis with fully automatic load compensation can also be attached to the bike.

Many options available

The LED main headlights are already on board as standard. The 6.5-inch full-color TFT display with connectivity features is also part of the basic equipment. The eCall emergency call is again only available at an additional cost.

Those who have not yet spent enough can upgrade the BMW R 1250 RS, for example, with the milled parts packages Option 719 Classic and HP. Then various aluminum add-on parts milled from solid are attached to the bike. There are also various special bikes available, as well as an exclusive special paint finish and benches of different heights. An HP sports silencer is also available ex works.

The base price for the new BMW R 1250 RS is 14,000 euros.
