BMW R 1150 RS 2001

Fallen into oblivion by the deserved success of its cousin R 1100/1150 RT, the R 1100 RS is back in version 1150 to remind us of the serene BM trip. The RS series was the first to benefit from the Paralever, Telelever, and the new 4-valve Boxer. It is only fair that Munich is making its latest improvements today. The displacement goes up to 1130 cc – + 5 hp and 0.3 mkg -, the lower fairing which was until then an option is now standard, plus a sixth report, the new EVO braking, the clutch which switches to the hydraulic and the rear wheel from 18 to 17 “. The dashboard is perfectly readable, very complete, but sad to die for. As for practical aspects, we are always unbeatable at BM: the screen is adjustable in height via a dial above the dashboard (which lacks a little protection for the shoulders), another knob at the back for adjusting the shock absorber, a saddle that can be adjusted to 3 heights … adapts to the rider both in terms of ergonomics and dynamics. Very comfortable on all types of roads, it also enjoys great stability and ease in tight bends provided you know how to handle a large motorcycle; more, because the typical nose gear and braking take some getting used to – quickly acquired. ise. The flat twin offers power and linearity but is fishing with a too stifled character. The sixth is an undeniable benefit on expressways, not on winding departmental roads.

BMW R 1150 RSRolling up on the couple can only be considered with recklessness if you bring a duo and luggage. It is better to retrocede a report to take advantage of an effective restart and flawless chassis, the serenity offered by the RS. The passenger is rather well off, taking advantage of the wide and comfortable saddle, a well-designed grab bar … and will rail against your driving embellished with engine jerks. OK, it’s not your fault, the mapping or the lambda probe is somewhat finicky; but go explain it to him …! Those hiccups and high-speed vibrations aside, the R 1150 RS is an outstanding, comfortable and road-ready traveler. The price is BM, but is displayed at 3200 € less than its noble cousin RT.
