Bol d'Or - 65 teams at the Bol d'Or this weekend -

65 teams will participate in the 68th Bol d’Or this weekend at Magny-Cours. Before knowing if the GMT 94, 2004 world champion, will again be able to counter a supercharged SERT, an overview of the forces involved and … rant against France Telecom !

2004, Yamaha year? After the incredible performance of Valentino Rossi who is preparing to win in a few weeks his 6th world title in Grand Prix riding a much-maligned M1 (read our) and the title of world champion obtained by Christophe’s GMT 94 Guyot last month (read our), the tuning forks brand is definitely on the rise…

Will it be the same this weekend during the 68th Bol d’Or on the Magny-Cours circuit? Will the GMT 94 manage to repeat the feat of its world title and to materialize on the finish line the splendid performance achieved at Le Mans in April (read our) ?

Our primary goal is victory

The suspense will remain unresolved until Sunday 3 p.m., but this is obviously not in the intentions of the boss of the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (Suzuki GSXR 1000 n ° 1 and 2), who remains the absolute reference in endurance, including for Christophe Guyot. "Our primary goal is victory", explains Dominique Meliand bluntly:"if we run the Bol d’Or, it’s to win! Our team has already won it eight times and it would be a great way to end the season. Apart from the 24 Hours of Le Mans which we won, 2004 was a year of bad luck. We were unlucky and missed out on the title of world endurance champion. So this Bowl is more important to us, it would be a way to make up for it…".

The goal is clear: to win !

Same motivation in hardened steel at Christophe Guyot, boss of GMT 94 (Yamaha R1 n ° 94): "It is not because we are world champions that we approach the Bowl with less vigilance! On the contrary, we have been on the podium twice but it is the only great event that we have never won. The goal is clear: to win !"

But we will also have to reckon with many challengers who intend to ardently defend their chances. "We represent the official team of Kawasaki Motors France and it is clear that our primary objective is to win this Bol d’Or", notably warns Jean-François Gay of the Kawasaki Fuchs Agyl Tech Racing Team (Kawasaki ZX-10R n ° 11)."We can afford to aim for the podium", considers Christian Lavieille of the National Motorcycle Team (Honda CBR 1000 n ° 5 and 6),"we will try to maintain a high and constant pace, to play in a position, to wait for possible failures of the top crews. We must not forget that we have a dealership’s motorcycle and that despite everything at the last 24 Hours of Le Mans, we could have finished 3rd without a crash that eliminated us"…

Moto-Net’s favorite

Also note the participation of Kevin Schwantz in the team of our colleagues from Motorcycle Review (Suzuki GSXR 1000 n ° 34), that of Team Deletang Motul which will line up no less than three machines (Yamaha 1000 R1 n ° 37, 41 and 141), and finally that of the undisputed darling of Moto-Net for this Bowl of Gold 2004: Magalï Langlois (read and du), the only girl in the race during the last 24 Hours of Le Mans, who will take the No. 67 Yamaha R1 alongside Gregory Boulange and Nicolas Ezannic … May the best win (read also)…

Anti-gambling award at France Telecom

In the meantime, the prize for anti-gambling has been firmly awarded by Moto-Net to France Telecom, which, due to outrageous prices (525 euros excluding VAT for the ADSL line while it is billed "only" 80 euros per l ‘ACO at the 24 Hours motorcycle on the Le Mans circuit), will deprive our readers of live coverage of the race. Moto-Net refuses to endorse such an abuse on the part of "the historical operator", as we say in The echoes, who after all [mode "attempt of joke should not take everything literally" ON] will have sought its privatization and would even deserve a general relocation to Bangladesh [mode "attempt of joke should not take everything literally "OFF] !

This will not prevent us, once the anger has subsided, from delivering to you on Sunday evening a complete report on the race seen from the inside, all in color and with real pieces of competition inside, hoping that you will have as many pleasure in reading it that we in writing it…
