I have a good relationship with Mandy (Kainz, the team manager, editor’s note) and the guys at Yamaha, so when they called and my Ten Kate team decided I could do it. to do, of course I said accepted. It will be a busy month of September (from 6 to 8, from 20 to 22 and from 27 to 29, Editor’s note), but I trained well all summer so it will not be not a problem".
"I’m happy to find Mandy again", Loris continued: "I always call him Dad because he was one of the few who gave young drivers the opportunity to race in world endurance, including myself when I was 18 in 2011. At the time we finished on the podium of the 24 Heures Motos du Mans. For this Bol d’Or, the objective will be to secure victory for Yamaha with Niccolò and Marvin ".
"We always called him baby"
“We’ve known Loris since he was little,” Mandy Kainz recalls: “he ran his first endurance race with us in 2011, at the age of 18. He was so young for an endurance driver. that we’ve always called him "the baby" and to be honest Loris did a fantastic job for us before moving to WorldSBK the following year ".
"Since then, he has always shown an interest in endurance racing and he has stayed in touch with the team, so he was the first driver we contacted to replace Broc Parkes", continues the team manager of the Austrian team. “We would like to thank the WorldSBK team supported by Ten Kate Yamaha for clearing them to ride for us when the month is already busy. The Bol d’Or remains the only European endurance race that we do not have. won … Many times we have been close to victory, including last year when we were second with just 54 seconds, but so far we have always missed the first step of the podium. With Loris Baz, Marvin Fritz and Niccolò Canepa, we have an incredibly strong trio of drivers. We are approaching this 2019 edition with the will to win the Bol d’Or ".
