PS put the latest accessories to the test.

The good news first: 120 mm front tires can be removed easily and with moderate effort. Otherwise, the Hi-Q Tools tire puller unfortunately doesn’t make a particularly good impression. It starts with the fact that the part is traded at Polo as a tire changer, but it can only be used to detach the tire from the rim, but not to mount it. The workmanship is also not convincing. All moving parts are attached with simple screw connections and run lighter or heavier depending on the tightening torque of the nuts. The plug connection of the pull-off lever is too loose and wobbles.

The attempt to detach a 180 mm rear tire from the rim simply failed during the test in the PS workshop because the lever had to be set at an angle that did not allow any downward pressure (see picture).

In view of these shortcomings, the tire puller from Hi-Q Tools is only enough for one star.

Air pressure gauges from Polo

Often it is the little things that make everyday motorcyclists easier – such as the Flaig air pressure gauge.

The handy metal part fits easily into any jacket pocket and is foolproof to use: press the button, place the device on the valve, release the button, read the air pressure.

The workmanship makes a solid impression, only the clear glass pane wobbles a bit. With a swiveling display, the Flaig part would be a PS tip. That’s enough for four stars and a price tip: 22.95 euros for German brand quality is a word.

Hi-Q Tools balancer

Hi-Q Tools balancer

Anyone who has ever balanced a wheel knows the problem: You stand in front of a whole bunch of different axles and try for minutes until you find a bar that fits through the rim without play.

The Hi-Q Tools balancer avoids this problem. Instead of axles of different thicknesses, two cones center the rim – simple and practical. The cones can be fixed with a screw. The rollers on which the axle runs should, however, be larger and thinner for more precise oscillation. The built-in dragonfly is simply superfluous.

Moto Cinch transport bracket

Moto Cinch transport bracket

The basic idea of the Moto Cinch developers doesn’t sound bad: Instead of handling straps, hooks and eyes when transporting a motorcycle, the motorcycle is clamped down using the lever system on the left and right of the footrests. Two movements, done.

However, in practice there are a few small things to consider: The instructions for use of the American system are in English, dimensions are given in inches. To anchor the tensioning system, holes must be drilled in the base of the transporter. The motorcycle should also be lashed forward as usual to prevent it from rolling back and forth.

Since a belt also has to be threaded in to secure the mechanics, the system ultimately offers no real advantage over the common anchoring method using a belt and eyelet.

Osram Racer

Especially in winter, when the nights are long and the days are short, die-hard year-round bikers need good light. The motorcycle lighting fulfills two safety-relevant tasks: see and be seen.

Osram promises with its lamp specially developed for motorcycles “Racer” Improvements in both areas. A bluish glass should create a xenon effect and ensure better visibility, while 20 percent brighter light should increase the range.

In fact, the Osram lamp shines more bluish and slightly brighter than a standard H4 bulb. However, the price is quite high at 34.90 euros.

Moto Racer DS

Moto-GP, Moto Cross, street races, freestyle: If you can’t get enough of motorcycling even in winter, you can let off steam on the game console with Moto Racer DS.

A first test on Nintendo’s DS pocket player went well: The graphics are convincing, especially the street race shines with a beautifully programmed city backdrop. Show bikers are also served: wheelies are possible on the street bikes at any speed, while the Digi-Pilot performs freestyle figures at the push of a button when crossing.

Showing the route on the lower screen is well meant, but the touchscreen is also used for control, which sometimes obstructs your view with your own hand.

HH-Racetech footrest system

HH-Racetech footrest system

An adjustable footrest system is a must-have accessory for every ambitious hobby racer.

The Hubert Hofmann model impresses above all with its neat craftsmanship. All parts are 3D-milled, the hinged levers sit snugly without wobbling. Overall, the footrest system looks very stable.

The extension of the system is quite unproblematic, but on the right side of the R6 it is quite tight. The standard hose between the brake cylinder and expansion tank has to give way to a slightly longer counterpart when converting. In the lowest footrest position, there is a little space between the brake lever and the muffler – fortunately, racers tend to drive with the rests mounted high. The system is street legal and available for various sports machines.

Price: 511 euros
Special features: adjustable notch position, brake and gear lever foldable
