Besides the brand name and the engine concept, the brand new Tiger and Sprint ST have only one thing in common. Both fight for the favor of the speedy touring riders.

Because, let’s be honest: What do potential Tiger or Sprint buyers really want? Well, is the penny falling? The egg-laying woolly milk pig, of course. One for all. That is why the ST operates under the name Sport-Tourer. Everyday sports tourer would have been an even better fit. The Tiger is called a travel enduro? Well yeah The trip we replace with tour is the same anyway. And enduro? Will be deleted, given the size and tires. But the Tiger works splendidly in everyday life. So everyday tourer. Anyone who really drives them around the corners tacitly adds a "sport". So now we can start.
And that is where a journey begins. On the autobahn, with a bit of luck, no speed limit. The south calls, the sprint triplet answers! Get started like the fire department. A stalemate when it comes to consumption. The Tiger consumes slightly more (8.5 to 8.2 liters at 160 km / h), but has three liters more tank capacity (24 to 21 liters). And who will win the Autobahn rating? The Sprint ST, because you can drive faster on it if necessary, crouched low behind the fairing. When the tiger sees that? we stay in the animal kingdom ?? just stupid.
And now off to the country road. Or country roads, because the variety of manifestations is currently only surpassed by the varied excuses our kickers have for terribly poor performances.
Sprint and Tiger don’t need such excuses. Both play in the Premiere League? albeit with different play facilities. If the curves are fast and flat, the sprint driver feels right at home. Low center of gravity, tight spring elements, great braking system, robust engine ?? the ST encourages you to drive fast. If it weren’t for the high handlebars, you’d be able to do gymnastics on them. Meanwhile, the tiger slowly disappears from the rear-view mirrors. The big cat is not yet in the mood for prey. Moves relaxed, relaxed, always nice and even, really fast – but she cannot follow the sprint performance. But she drives herself as casually as if it were going to get some rolls. Simply easy, thanks to the excellent overview, the wide handlebars, the good brakes and the long suspension travel of the fork, which thanks to the progressive winding still offers enough remaining suspension travel even when braking on the penultimate groove. The Michelin T66 tires, which have grip in all situations, also contribute to the good feeling. It doesn’t matter that the red one is faster. With full use of the impressive engine and chassis reserves. So be it.
The tiger driver suspects: My time comes despite the footrests touching down. At the latest when the curves get tighter and the asphalt faults take on tectonic proportions. Then the sprint of the sprint is no longer that easy. It does well for a motorcycle geared towards street sports, with finely appealing spring elements, compared to the small 17-inch Tiger and the narrow handlebars. Nevertheless: Exercising around has long been out of the question. The sprint terrain is smoother. Staying ahead is therefore the motto, and that is difficult enough. Mainly because the tiger pretends to be nothing. Round, even – and extremely fast. Everything as usual. As if there were no bumps or ridges. With a light pull on the handlebars from turn to turn, always following the 19-inch front wheel. Pure performance is a minor matter here, the curves are too tight and the straights in between are too short.

Because even if the mogul slope rating is clearly in the high yellow – which is not for little people despite the seat height adjustment – it can only equalize the advantage of the sprint on the faster and more even stretches. Overall, both hit the conceptual target corridor safely and convincingly. Are to be had for every travel fun. Ultimately a question of taste. And this should be a lot less arguing about in good families than anywhere else.
