An official website in tribute to the Kawasaki Z1 and Z1000
The Akashi firm has just put online a mini site retracing the glorious saga of its Zs: from the original Z1 unveiled in 1972 to the last Z1000 released two years ago, eight big "Zed" Kawasaki models have gone into review… And the Z750 then ?
Kawasaki had warned us: this year 2012 marks the 40th anniversary of the birth of its Z1 and will be an opportunity for the Greens to talk about them (read in particular..
A week after presenting theirs, Kawa returns to the charge, this time with one who, according to the Japanese, "should delight all lovers of some of the most iconic models of the great Japanese manufacturer".
The Kawa saga from Z to Z
The list naturally starts with the 900 Z1, the first model of the name, unveiled in 1972 at the Cologne Motor Show. By browsing the short description – "in English or … Japanese language", explain French officials not without malice – visitors can for example (re) discover the origin of his name.
"The letter Z was chosen because, as the last letter of the alphabet, it represented the extreme", describe the Japanese, while"the 1 meant number one in the world"More obscure, the development code name for the legendary Z was"New York Steak"…
Should we see here Kawasaki’s fierce desire to produce, primarily for the American and European markets, a motorcycle that "would send steak"? Site is investigating Kawasaki France to find out … Stay connected !
In the meantime, do not hesitate to browse this new site created by the Kawasaki factory and on which are briefly presented seven other "Zed" models: Z1-R (1977), Z1300 (1978), Z1100GP (1981), Z1000 -R (1982) and the three "modern" versions of Z1000 (2003, 2007 and 2010).
"A quick historical reminder of each model and a gallery of recoverable high-definition photos – including several superb wallpapers – allow you to delve back into some of the golden years of Kawasaki’s "Z" saga, a very unique line of motorcycles in the motorcycle industry !", cheers Kawasaki France.
Only the many fans of the Z750 will remain hungry … Here again, Site can only hypothesize for lack of confirmation from Kawasaki France: the Japanese are still waiting a little before talking about their "Zed seven and half"…
And if to present the new version of the French bestseller – for seven years! – this autumn at the Cologne Motor Show, 40 years to the day after the Z1, was part of the festivities imagined by the Greens in 2012? Here is which "would send the pate" this time, certainly … Stay tuned !
