The most expensive bike in the world

The Swiss Harley-Davidson agency in Graubunden has launched the Blue Edition Softail together with the traditional Swiss watch and jewelry company Bucherer. With a value of 1.888 million Swiss francs, the bike is probably the most expensive motorcycle in the world.

The Blue Edition is really nasty and also really luxurious. A bike that has no equal. It was commissioned by the Swiss watch brand Carl F. Bucherer, which is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year. The basis for the exclusive renovation is a Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S, whereby conversion is almost an understatement, because actually every screw and every part has been elaborately refined. In total, a team of eight invested over 2,500 hours in the project in one year.

Two safes in the tank

The special features of the Blue Edition include two small, retractable safes on the tank. On the left side sits a six-handle solitaire ring Heaven with a 5.40 ct diamond under a domed glass dome.

In a second safe on the right-hand side of the tank there is a custom-made product from the watch manufacture of Carl F. Bucherer, which is based on the Patravi TravelTec II model. The dial of this unique piece is adorned with elements of a motorcycle engine. So that the vibration of the motor does not damage the mechanical movement, the clock is stored in a kind of cage with an elaborate holder made of silicone rings. “It was a long way,” says Samir Merdanovic, Head of Manufacture Movements at Carl F. Bucherer, about the development, which had a lot to think about.

But the Blue Edition has even more highlights to offer. The rotating camshaft is visible through a window on the camshaft housing, as is the valve control and the gold-plated throttle valves. Heat-resistant LED lights illuminate the scene.

The Harley-Davidson Blue Edition is the first bike in the world to have a motor that is illuminated from the inside. In addition, various parts of the motorcycle are gold-plated. The cowhide saddle was sewn by hand in Switzerland. Even the blue paint is not just paint. A special technique was required to make the Harley-Davidson shine in this intense blue. In a first step, the entire motorcycle was silvered, then six layers of paint were applied using a secret painting process.

Gemstones everywhere

The Blue Edition is completed with a lot of watchmaking and jewelery art. For example, the Dizzler rotating ring from the Bucherer Fine Jewelery collection was adapted for the Harley-Davidson Blue Edition so that it can be attached to the handlebars.

Another pair of Dizzler diamond rings was installed on the fork. As already mentioned, a large version of the Dizzler ring can be found in the safe in the left half of the tank.

So it’s not surprising that Harley-Davidson Graubunden gives the value of the Blue Edition at 1.888 million Swiss francs. Incidentally, the Blue Edition should also be the most expensive motorcycle in the world.
