Late brakes: Road King Classic

Kpanic, the Road King will remain true to itself in the 2008 version. The blow of the Twin Cam 96 will continue to massage your hands and buttocks comfortably while idling to ?? completely unexpected at least for newbies ?? already a few revolutions higher to pass into a cultivated, only very shyly pounding engine. The Road King also tries to make her rider comfortable with the chest of drawers, the handlebars lying loosely in the hand and the comfortably positioned running boards. May he? not least thanks to the comfortably tuned suspension ?? feel like his name: Road King, King of the Road. Indeed it can be done on this Harley ?? here in the Classic edition with leather panniers, whitewall tires and spoked wheels ?? classy travel. And even better in the future. The princely claim to leadership within the Harley dynasty is documented from the coming season, in addition to further modifications (see “Most important changes” above), above all in an optionally available ABS, which, except for the Tourer series (Road King, Electra Glide, Street Glide) is only offered for the avant-garde V-Rod.

Braking power, gas and ABS

And so it brakes for the first time in Harley’s history without blocking. Of course, the 355 kilogram heavy Road King Classic cannot be delayed as vehemently as ABS-braked all-rounders. It takes three fingers to slow down the front as much as possible. In addition, the brake pressure is reduced quite early, so that the front tire can hardly be made to whimper. Ditto in the rear wheel, which, given the high rear load, could transmit significantly more deceleration forces. How much exactly will be revealed by the brake measurement as part of the top test of the V-Rod in one of the next MOTORRAD issues. Nevertheless, ABS definitely offers a plus in safety. The so-called drive-by-wire throttle, whose commands are passed on to the throttle valve via an electric servomotor, provides more comfort. The gas can be turned with almost no resistance. A cruise control is included as standard. As well as the increase by four to 82 hp, which the Harley owner will like just as much as the base price reduced by 500 euros? even if it is put into perspective with the 990 euro surcharge for the ABS.
