Part of the reason for the weight loss is the exhaust. In comparison, it is a whopping 4.5 kilograms lighter than the old CB.

Honda CB 1000 R (2018) in the driving report

First test ride with the naked bike

In 2016 the Honda CB 1000 R was still in the MOTORRAD catalog, in 2017 it was no longer. Now the big naked bike returns in a new guise for the 2018 model year. We were able to convince ourselves of the quality of the new CB on a first test drive in Spain.

What a curve frenzy. With the new Honda C.B 1000 R from Marbella up into the mountains towards Ronda, then quickly made a detour on the Ascari Racetrack and then drove the seemingly endless corkscrew-like tangle of bends back towards the Mediterranean coast. Straight lines? Nothing! And how did Honda’s new naked bike in the one-liter class fare? Correctly well mannered.

Fasting did the CB 1000 R well

If you take a look at the new Nakedei, you will immediately see: Honda not only went over here with a small feather duster for a subtle model upgrade, but also took on the Honda CB 1000 R very intensively. The old model weighed 220 kilograms, the Japanese promise 212 double pounds for the latest edition. The pounds went down in bodywork, among other things. Moved the LED headlights close to the fork, designed the rear as tightly as possible, a lot of fine-tuning in detail, also lightened the exhaust by 4.5 kilograms and the frame by 2.5 kilograms. Fasting did the CB 1000 R really well. She willingly follows every steering command via the wide, only slightly cranked handlebars, dipping casually into deep lean angles. A little emphasis is only required if it is to go around the corner really low.

CB 1000 R + a bit sharper

Pressure is a good keyword because Honda not only shed the pounds on the CB 1000 R, but also breathed a plus in performance into the Inline-Four. The engine, which is still based in its main features on the Fireblade of the type SC 57 (2005-2007), should now produce 145 hp. One likes to believe him. Combined with a slightly shortened translation, the Honda CB 1000 R is making good progress. She likes to be lazy to change gear, but is not averse to turning out the gears. The driver is happy to give in to this, especially when he is sitting on the CB 1000 R + (14,485 euros plus ancillary costs, normal model 12,985 plus ancillary costs) available at the presentation. In addition to heated grips, some optical extras such as a small aluminum windshield, radiator cover and other show and shine components, it has a blipper. With this, the gears slide from bottom to top and back without having to use the smooth and easy-to-dose clutch.

Honda

There are three paint finishes to choose from for the new CB 1000 R..

This awakens the sporting spirit, which the chassis and brakes support on the country road without blame and full of zest for action. At best, the directly hinged damper should show its sensitive side more. Otherwise the Honda CB 1000 R is really good on the road. Time for a final word from Mr. Uchida, the project manager behind the new Honda CB 1000 R: “With the CB 1000 R we wanted to put a minimalist naked bike on the wheels that is pleasantly easy to ride.” Honda has definitely succeeded . And thanks to a small fasting cure and a power supplement, the driving pleasure now pulls the corners of your mouth up even further.
