Driving report LKM-Suzuki GSX-R 1000
Enough is never enough
Does it make sense to tune a Porsche 911 Turbo? Could we expect production motorcycles with over 170 hp? Did we really want to know if Lisa Fitz eats worms in the jungle camp?
Let’s not talk about what is needed or not. Let’s talk about performance. Let’s talk about Hennes Lohr. The
is under the label L.KM always on
looking for even more pressure. And
will usually find what you are looking for. For example with the Suzuki GSX-R 1000. The ultimate power bar of the past season has been available with a nominal 164 hp since the Kawasaki ZX-10R appeared ?? in terms of performance? only in the second link.
Unless you bring the Suzuki
in Bonn. 180 HP on the clutch instead of the standard 160 HP measured? That’s the promise when Lohr has finished his TÜV-compliant power regimen (see box). And an increase in power and torque across the entire speed range.
Could that be, given the high level of technology that modern high-performance towers come with from the factory? The answer is yes ??
and no. 178 HP on the clutch at 12,000 rpm and thus a whopping 18 HP more than the strongest series GSX-R measured by MOTORRAD so far, the LKM-Suzi presses on the editorial test bench. The other part of the truth: In the lower and middle speed range, more than ten horsepower and 20 Newton meters of torque are lost.
A truth that expresses itself as follows when driving: On the country road, the GSX-R pushes forward with pressure, but no longer quite as brutally. Until the tachometer needle hits the 9000 mark. If you then let go, the LKM power hits the tank in the face, at least in the first three gears, without much fuss.
That impresses, but doesn’t necessarily make it faster. At least not in the range up to 200 km / h measured by MOTORRAD. Because with the LKM-GSX-R, which competed in a superbike replica outfit (numerous conversions from the Ohlins chassis to Phoenix wheels to carbon trim parts), the front wheel cannot be kept on the ground when accelerating
and the series engine shows its midrange power in the pull-through measurement. Beyond 240 km / h but ?? only from this speed is the rear wheel performance significantly higher than the series counterpart ?? the mail goes off like hell. And Tempo 300? Let’s not talk about it.
