675 three-cylinder super sports car from MV Agusta
If it were all about beauty, everyone else could wrap up. But it usually doesn’t work. Nevertheless, the new MV Agusta F3 turns every racetrack into a catwalk. It drives as well as it looks?
Are motorcycles freezing? If so, at least you can’t see it. Otherwise the traditional red and silver paintwork would be the M.V Agusta F3 in the pit lane of Le Castellet probably covered with goose bumps. Half past nine in the morning, minus 3.6 degrees. How did we deserve it??

The petite F3 does not offer an abundance of space, but it is an ergonomically sophisticated place.
The F3, on the other hand, creates trust. For example, through the really well-functioning brake system (320 millimeter discs, Brembo four-piston calipers, Nissin master brake cylinder), which proves that brake calipers do not have to be one-piece in order to bite with precision. Or the 43 Marzocchi fork, in which compression and rebound damping are housed in separate fork legs and which is sensitive despite the icy temperatures. Just like the perfectly functioning shock absorber. Both show that Ohlins doesn’t have to stand on everything that bounces and cushions properly. And finally there is the new, eight-stage traction control, which still does not compare the data from the front and rear wheels, but with 47 instead of the previous four impulses, it makes it clear that devices of this type can now also function at MV, at least to a certain extent . So it does not prevent a wheelie – which is tolerable with a 675, but ensures, for example, in level five for a rather early containment of the forward thrust, while in level three it regulates noticeably later.
Speaking of electronics: no motorcycle in this class has ever been so crammed with bits and bytes. In addition to traction control, four different mappings ensure entertainment, which, in addition to the two injection nozzles per combustion chamber, also control the opening angle of the throttle valves, which are controlled exclusively by a servomotor (ride by wire). In rain mode they open cautiously (and the traction control automatically switches to level eight), in normal mode they are correspondingly more offensive, while in sport mode it is set as far as the three-cylinder can handle. In custom mode, different levels of power delivery and responsiveness can be adapted to individual needs. And even better: everything can now be easily adjusted from the left end of the handlebar.
What is obviously not that easy to readjust is the relatively hard throttle response of the ultra-compact three-cylinder and the sometimes slightly delayed response under race track conditions. Just as little as a pull-through miracle can be generated from the short-stroke high-performance motor at the push of a button. Below 7000 rpm the F3 goes smoothly, but cautiously forwards, up to 10000 rpm the temperament awakens, then the air burns.
Another small mishap of the F3, however, can be overcome relatively easily. The sometimes poor shiftability of the compact cassette gear, in which the shift forks are mounted directly on the shift drum, is supported by the recommendable, well-functioning automatic gearshift (around 300 euros) in the long term. The fact that the delayed throttle response is no longer an issue with the automatic gearshift makes things even better.
The bottom line is that the F3 represents a new era for the MV Agusta brand. A fantastic-looking, radical supersport motorcycle that works right from the start at an affordable price – it should go straight out of the exclusive niche into the middle of a promising motorcycle future. A start has been made!
