New large wheel scooter

Nobody does what they should, everyone does what they want, but everyone participates. This well-known saying is perfect for describing the Neapolitan city traffic, in whose tumult the new one Yamaha Grobradler X-City was presented. Because viewed from the outside, the crowd on the mostly narrow, often cobblestone and always hopelessly overcrowded streets resembles this seemingly uncontrolled chaos in a shoal of herring. Everything flows completely uncoordinated and yet follows two simple rules: no sudden actions and a maneuver once started. This at least makes things predictable, but remains highly adrenaline-inducing for a newcomer.

It’s good if the subset doesn’t also require full concentration. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the X-City fits through even the smallest of gaps, the large wheels with a diameter of 16 inches at the front and 15 inches at the rear guide safely around the largest potholes. Or, if need be, right through the middle. Whereby the waves, edges and heels, which are easily swallowed by the soft fork, come back from the stubborn rear suspension. It is therefore a good idea that the upright sitting position is close to the front wheel, although this noticeably costs leg space. And the heavily stepped, comfortably padded bench does not allow you to slide back. There is room for all kinds of things in the compartment under the same, but with the test helmet the lid could only be closed with force. It doesn’t work at all with a full-face hat.

The X-City is powered by the two-valve stew known from Majesty and X-Max, which still has to do without an oil filter. On the other hand, thanks to a modified mapping of the injection system, it works lively and easy to turn, and in combination with a robust sound and successful variator tuning, there is hardly any desire for more power, at least in town. However, after less either. The brakes work effectively. Like the whole scooter, they are fun for everyone. And it’s available for 4468 euros.
