Ducati 1100 MONSTER evo 2012

Evo, the code name now used by Ducati for the evolution of its models (nothing more logical in short). After the Hypermotard 1100 and the 848, it was the 1100 Monster’s turn to sport this middle name. Just to remember that she has changed ? A glance at the technical sheet or a simple glance at the machine will be enough to realize that the roadster is still taking on character. It’s especially this new exhaust that slams like a warning. Two side silencers, superimposed like those of the S2R and S4R series…. No, no, in fact, like those of the new and outspoken 1200 Diavel. If they visually lighten the rear, rim fans will find it a shame that they hide the rear wheel, previously perfectly clear and open to envious eyes.

A new saddle and handlebars raised by 20 mm will ease the riding position somewhat. Since the release of the 796, the Monster lineup seems more concerned with improving on-board ergonomics. Would the 1100 settle down? Not really, rather the other way around. The big air-cooled twin wins 5 horsepower for 2011, which allows it to claim 100 nags. Increased compression ratio, revised valves, changed flywheel, this is how the block stuffed the vitamins.

Technical side, no change on the chassis. Tubular trellis frame fixed on two aluminum plates, single-sided and inverted 43 mm fork with Brembo brake companion and its 4-piston radial calipers. It’s the electronic assistance that is in the spotlight. Presented under the name of Ducati Safety Pack (DSP), active safety is entrusted to a super light ABS and a configurable anti-slip on 4 levels. For athletes, these crutches can be deactivated from the handlebars. Its development translates into a weight gain of one kilo – not a big deal when you display less than 170 on the scale. If the telemetry analysis of your driving tempts you, the 1100 Monster evo is already pre-wired to receive the DDA (Ducati Data Analyzer), as on the 1198.
