Ducati Monster 1200 S made this assumption after just a few 180-degree years in the Maritime Alps near Monaco: It does not cause any effort, takes a slight incline, can be straightened up easily and still remains very trustworthy and stable when braking into the next bend – certainly also a merit of the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III. Unfortunately, the test track didn’t offer any wide, fast corners to put the Ducati Monster 1200 S to the test. It is definitely more front-wheel-oriented and almost as sporty as the (still available) 160 hp Ducati Monster 1200 R.

With 147 PS and 126 Nm from 1,198 cm³, the Ducati Monster 1200 S is perfectly motorized. In sport mode, she accelerates sharply and can be circled around corners with no problems even at just 3000 rpm. Cornering ABS, traction control and wheelie control are on board so that the Ducati Monster 1200 S’s performance is not transformed into deformation.

The S version of the 2017 Ducati Monster 1200 is 2900 euros more expensive than the basic version. For this extra charge, it offers an Ohlins chassis, Brembo M50 brakes at the front, a quickshifter with blipper function and lighter wheels as well as carbon protection"sheet" front. However, a steering damper can be missed on a sporty motorcycle like the Ducati Monster 1200 S – especially in this price segment.
