Super enduro with V4 engine from 17,545 euros

Ducati will bring a Multistrada V4 with an innovative safety package and 170 hp in 2021. Your new engine does without desmodromics.

D.ucati makes the Multistrada even more versatile. With numerous electronic helpers, the new V4 engine, new equipment features and the electronically controlled chassis, it can take on all roads and paths and should be even easier to drive.

Multistrada remains a platypus

Ducati

The Multistrada has retained its basic shape with the beak-shaped cladding as a V4. The new LED headlights are based on the Panigale superbike. The height-adjustable windshield with its flanking auxiliary elements offers improved wind protection. The 22 liter tank was fitted into the line so that the driver should have enough freedom of movement even when standing. The bench can be adjusted to 840 and 860 millimeters as standard. Additional bench seats with seat heights of 810 and 875 millimeters are optionally available. The finish of the new Multistrada is significantly slimmer than before.

V4 without Desmo, but with a lot of power

Ducati

The heart of the new Multistrada is the completely redeveloped V4 engine, which for the first time in recent Ducati history has had to do without the desmodromic valve control. Conventional valve springs are installed. Equipped with a displacement of 1,158 cm³, the V4 has an output of 170 hp and a maximum torque of 125 Nm. (Large electronics arsenal

The Multistrada wouldn’t be a Ducati if it wasn’t for a walk through an armada of electronic systems. The adjustable traction control, like the ABS, which can be deactivated in Enduro mode, now also has an integral function when cornering, while the adjustable wheelie control keeps the front wheel on the ground. The character of the V4 and the control systems can be configured with four driving modes (Enduro, Urban, Sport, Touring). The V4 S variant also has an electronically controlled chassis – now with automatic load detection -, cornering lights and the Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) hill start aid. That is also new

The 6.5 inch colored TFT display (only from version S) can be tilted and offers a multilingual menu. A joystick in the left handlebar controls takes over the control. With the Ducati Connect system, selected contents of a smartphone can be mirrored in the dashboard – music, telephone, navigation. The smartphone itself finds its place and a USB power connection in a new compartment on top of the tank. There is also a 12 V socket in the cockpit lining.

Everything new in the chassis

Ducati also completely redesigned the chassis of the Multistrada V4. The aluminum monocoque frame is combined with a cast aluminum double swing arm. The fully adjustable 50 mm Marzocchi USD fork at the front offers 170 millimeters of travel, the rear, directly hinged, fully adjustable shock absorber offers 180 millimeters. 220 millimeters of ground clearance and a dry weight of 215 kilograms are further key data. In terms of payload, Ducati allows the Multi a whopping 230 kilograms. As standard, the Multistrada V4 rolls on 17 and 19 inch cast rims with a 120/70 tire at the front and a 170/60 tire at the rear.

Three versions and many options

Ducati

The new Multistrada V4 is available in the basic version, as an S version and as an S Sport. The base is only available in red, with a 320 front brake system, 5-inch display and cast rims. Those who choose the S variant can choose between the colors gray and red as well as between cast and spoke rims, get a 330 mm brake system with Sytlema calipers at the front, the electronic chassis, a 6.5-inch display with connect system, full -LED headlights with cornering lights and a quickshifter. The Sport equipment packs an Akrapovic rear silencer made of carbon and titanium, a carbon fender at the front and a sports paintwork on it.

Ducati

Of course, all versions can be extensively upgraded with accessories. Ducati also grants a four-year guarantee on the Multistrada V4, with no cliometer limit. The prices for the Multistrada V4, which will be available from dealers from December, start at 17,545 euros for the basic version. The V4 S is available from 20,455 euros. The V2 versions should remain in the program in parallel.

Conclusion

The sparrows were already whistling from the rooftops: Ducati is coming with a new Multistrada V4. The waiver of the valve control should only hurt Ducatisti hearts. More power, more equipment and less weight are factors that really count.
