Harley-Davidson: The new iron heaps

Coolness: Would have to draw the ideal of a chopper – it would not come out other than the brand new Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide. 30 years after the debut of the first Wide Glide, the current FXDWG – so the official abbreviation – is even better than the role model: the flat forks that convince pre-laminated footrests, the deep seat and the flames decorated tank (for 3000 limited special models) Everyone who has only a little bit of classic beautiful motorcycles left.
Mileage eating: One basically sits very commodity on the Wide Glide – at least for a chopper. Well, the arms are long since long and with a longer ride a fear, the light circular jaw could still stay after descending. But the seat is wide and the leg position relaxed. The engine is the well-tried air-cooled twin-CAM-96, which from 1584 cubic centimeter displacement is sufficient 78 hp and a maximum torque of 126 Newton meters. Since it can be relaxed downside down, especially since the V2 mounted in rubber is felt exactly in the right dimensions. The only disappointment is the missing Bollersound – the standard exhaust system does not sound like that.
Curve scratching: Who would have thought that: Although the Wide Glide is quite long and with 310 kilograms is not very easy, they are far from the most gliding. Thanks to the low center of gravity, the buck is surprisingly easy to handle. The freedom to lean is also not that bad. Even the switchbacks in the Black Hills are easy to take.
Collection bag: Not that bad for a Harley-Davidson. The Wide Glide is available from 14,795 euros and is therefore one of the more affordable iron piles from Milwaukee.

  1. Once Harley and never again!
I bought a Harley about 18 years ago. It was just my disappointment … life. Expensive, inferior quality and technically not up to date, not to mention the driving dynamics qualities. Conclusion, after about 2 years of disappointments I sold the load again and bought a BMW. Meanwhile, I already drive the 3. BMW and my next motorcycle will be a BMW again. However, the Harleys really have a great advantage: the high resale value. But he has, in my view, the same cause as the myth and fascination of Harley Davidson: the marketing department of Harley!

  2. hammer
Harley driving is just awesome, he himself had a Softail Classic ago, was the best mopped what I ever had. Department price, admittedly very high, many conversions, a lot of dangers and then sold after 10 years, value loss incl. Conversions only about.1000 Euro. Inspections cheap, spare parts as well. Feel-good and fun factor priceless. I will definitely buy a Harley at the latest at the latest, even if that for some the precursor is the rollator. But that should probably be the envy of the possessless….

  3. Attitude thing
For purposes of technical or driving dynamic aspects, I do not find a Harley in direct competition with machines from Japan&Europe. Nevertheless, I catch myself (41J, professionally&arrived privately and was busy) more and more that the idea of the "just rolling around" without too "sporty" claim pleases. Maybe I’m gradually "ripe" for something…

  4. Unfair, very unfair…
…is your article: With great pictures (in front of the fire station) it shows men’s dreams that I dream too – unfortunately you don’t write where you can get the necessary change for them. I will keep dreaming – and save.

  5. lasting value
Even if the iron heaps are expensive, they retain their value for many years. It’s amazing what used Harleys still cost. The stoker group with the rice bowls can put them in the yellow sack after 5 years because nobody wants them anymore. The bottom line is that a Harley always pays off. And the way you drive, you live longer.
