The MotoGP 2020 World Championship, which is particularly contested and open, is soon coming to an end and the gaps are narrowing at the top of the standings! Driver statements after European GP in Valencia with only two races left…
Joan Mir, 1st
"I’m very happy! The team and I organized a perfect weekend! It’s difficult to give yourself 100% when you are fighting for a title because you always have to be a little careful, but today I saw the possibility of my first win and had to grab it. I knew what I had to do and felt really good with my bike. I don’t really have words to describe how good it is. is amazing to be a MotoGP winner and it gives me an extra boost especially after a tough weekend in terms of conditions. The standings are still tight up front so I have to stay focused and keep working for the week -end next ".

Alex Rins, 2nd
“I was in the lead for a lot of the race and was hoping to lead until the end, but I missed a speed at Turn 11 on lap 17th, I widened and Joan passed. that he was in front, it was very difficult to stay with him even if I tried because his pace was really good. But even though the result was not perfect for me, it was a fantastic day for the Joan got the win he really wanted, Suzuki got a brace and I got 20 points to add to my championship total! So I’m happy and ready to go next week to see what I can do, because there are still many points to be taken "…
Pol Espargaro, 3rd
“It was really, really hard, they were fast but I caught up with them under braking. I lost a bit of speed in the turns on the line, but hard front and medium rear tires were a choice. perfect. We had no data for this selection but we gave it a try and I was saving time. I’m really happy. Another podium for KTM and myself, it’s a great feeling. ".
Takaaki Nakagami, 4th
“It’s a great result, a great race and we had a good pace until the end. As you can see, I never give up! Until the last lap, the last corner, I gave the best and that’s really positive. I was really very close to my first podium, but a new fourth place as the best independent rider is a great result for us. I think we have to be happy and I’m already looking forward to participate in the next race here in Valencia. We have to keep attacking and believing in it, in my team and in myself because we have another opportunity for a great result. I want to thank my team because we have been competitive the whole weekend".
Miguel Oliveira, 5th
"I’m happy. I think the warm-up strategy paid off for the race. We managed to have a good balance on the bike and a good set-up. Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep up the pace in the race. the last seven to eight laps. After coming close to the crash several times, I decided to calm down and bring the bike back to the garage. I’m still having a good race and I’m scoring good points for the team. ".
Jack Miller, 6th
"It’s not what we were hoping for, but it’s a good race and I don’t want to complain. It’s a shame I wasted time at the start. I tried to come back up and be the more aggressive possible, but the podium was already inaccessible. The pace was good and I felt good, especially in the left turns. We will try again next week ".
Brad Binder, 7th
“The race started well but I got a bit choked in the first two-three corners. I didn’t want to take too many risks with a full tank and I knew the long lap penalty would come very early. did it I attacked to catch up, but Cal Crutchlow fell in front of me and I had to get off the track! I lost a few more seconds on this lap then I didn’t come back too badly, I felt good and the bike was running very well today. Even with the worn tires we could keep the same lap times. It’s a shame to finish 7th because we had the pace to do a lot better, but I’m really happy and I think we can do a good job next weekend ".
Andrea Dovizioso, 8th
"I didn’t feel very well physically today, but luckily I managed to be consistent in the race. In the first laps I gained several places but at the beginning my feeling with the bike was not good. C t was only towards the end of the race that I was able to have good speed and that is an interesting aspect that we will have to focus on. I am not happy with today’s result, but now we have interesting data to work on before the next GP, which will take place here in Valencia next Sunday ".
Johann Zarco, 9th

Danilo Petrucci, 10th
"I managed to make a good comeback today in the race and I’m quite happy with this tenth place. Today’s result was affected by my position on the grid, but given that we didn’t have not much time to test in the dry, I had a good race pace. We will now work on the data collected to try to improve the configuration and the start of the next Grand Prix which will take place again here in Valence ".
Franco Morbidelli, 11th
“I think the biggest problem we had today was the pressure in the front tire. When we ride in the peloton we notice pressure problems and we can’t fight the way we want to. I was able to handle the situation and finish 11th, which is not too bad considering the situation.Although the gap with the championship leader has widened, we came closer to second this weekend. Of course, I will fight until the end for the best possible position in the championship ".
Maverick Viñales, 13th
“Today’s race was going to be tough. The bike wasn’t perfect as we had too little time to prepare for a dry track race, but that’s how it is. Finishing in 13th place starting from the pit lane isn’t horrible but it’s not fantastic either, especially for championship. But I don’t want to think about it too much, I prefer to focus on improving the bike and trying to enjoy the second race in Valencia then the Portimão event ".
Fabio Quartararo, 14th
Valentino Rossi, abandonment

Pecco Bagnaia, abandonment
"It’s a shame because I had a good start, I was going really fast and the feeling with the bike was great. I made a mistake and I paid for it. Unfortunately, starting so far brings you to attack very hard to close the gap. My objective will be to try to start from as high as possible for the next race and make the most of the bike’s potential. ".
Cal Crutchlow, abandonment
“Well… crashing after five laps is not what we imagined or wanted! With a bad qualifying position and a bad start, it was difficult to get back on the front runners. Unfortunately, I have got caught in the suction in the braking zone of turn 8, I widened on the dirty part of the track with the front brake and lost the front. It was all my fault and hopefully a best result next weekend where we think the track conditions will be much more stable and we can work with the team to have a better base for the race ".
