The 2018 French Motorcycle Grand Prix wins the crowd race
The 2018 French Grand Prix at Le Mans (72) climbs to first place in the ranking of the number of spectators recorded on Sunday, the day of the Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP races. The GP of Thailand and Austria, however, do a little better over the weekend. Explanations.
The ideal weather conditions (sun and nearly 25 ° C) during the, and quality animations are at the origin of a new recorded on May 20 at Le Mans, unfortunately also marked by the fall of the Tech3 representative during the race .

Thanks to this record of "105,203 spectators" around the Sarthoise track, the French motorcycle GP can be proud of having attracted the most people to its stands on race day, in front of the ("105,000") and the ("103,984").
The tricolor event does better than the Grand Prix of Valencia (Spain) and the Grand Prix of San Marino (Italy), yet traditional "heavyweights" in terms of attendance thanks in particular to the numerical superiority of Spanish and Italian drivers in the three categories of the Moto Grand Prix.
Big success in Thailand and Austria
Over the three days of testing and racing, however, it is the Grand Prix of Thailand and Austria that occupy the top of the ranking with 222,535 and 206,746 spectators respectively recorded from Friday to Sunday, against 206,617 for the GP. of France.
Strangely enough, the influx of Thai and Austrian races fell sharply on Sunday with 100,245 and 92,955 people respectively at the Buriram and Red Bull Ring circuits. In other words: more than half of the spectators attended the practice … but not the races ?!
Note that the organization of a MotoGP race in Thailand is as successful as the promoter hoped, since the GP of Thailand was full for its first year in the MotoGP calendar! What confirms the popular enthusiasm for motorsports in this Southeast Asian country.
The French motorcycle GP has not, however, said its last word and is already laying a good foundation for its next edition from May 17 to 19, in view of the dazzling success of the sales of seats in the stands: the "18,500 tickets with reserved seats "around the Bugatti-Le Mans track have all found takers in just three weeks !
"In order to meet the expectations of spectators who have not been able to reserve this type of seat, the organization of the Grand Prix de France is doing its utmost to offer a new stand by early December", informs PHA Claude Michy, organizer of the GP of France motorcycle.
