Harley-Davidson model year 2019

All bikes including prices

For the 2019 model year, the US motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson is presenting a new power cruiser, optimizations for the Touring, Trike and CVO families, as well as a new infotainment system. Here all information and prices as well as the first driving report of the FXDR 114.

Highlight of the refreshed model range from Harley-Davidson for the 2019 model year is likely to be the new FXDR 114, which complements the Softail series with a true power cruiser. Here the Americans have combined the powerful Milwaukee Eight 114 engine with – listen and be amazed – lightweight components. The rear swing arm and the rear frame were made of light metal. The wheels should also be weight-optimized. In addition, the mudguards were molded from lightweight composite material. The curb weight should drop to 289 kg.

The 1.9 liter 114 engine is said to be 91 hp and 160 Nm at 3,500 rpm in the FXDR 114. hand it in to the 240/40 18-inch rear tire. The rear tire is covered by a spring-loaded fender. The upside-down fork at the front carries a 19-inch forged wheel with 120/70 tires. Harley emphasizes sporty approaches with the allegedly greatest freedom from lean angles of all Softail models.

The FXDR 114 prompts the driver.

We want to test them out on a first test drive. The massive rear wheel demands considerable steering forces. The 114 twin delivers tremendous thrust from the depths of the displacement. So much that the Michelin Scorcher 11 rubber often struggles for grip without success. In spite of the huge mountainous area, vigorous acceleration ends in gears one and two, including three, it doesn’t even have to be full throttle, sometimes in smoke and street painting. But once you’ve got used to the comfortably controllable lack of traction, it’s great fun. The lean angle is always sufficient for a power cruiser. The difficulty is more in getting the motorcycle in there too. With pace increasing, the self-will, including the righting moment, increases. Firm will and committed physical exertion must force the FXDR into an inclined position.

The brake can be precisely dosed. The landing gear got hard. At the front, the sturdy fork speaks nicely, at the rear the hard spring and the low tire cross-section direct blows to the lower back.

The FXDR 114 is expected to be available from October 2018 at prices from 24,595 euros plus 560 euros for ancillary costs.

Update for touring and trike models

For the new model year, selected touring and trike models can also be equipped with a new infotainment system. The boom! Box GTS baptized system was designed in the look of modern mobile devices, should be more robust and have new additional features especially for motorcycle applications. The system is also characterized by a hands-free function and is compatible with Apple CarPlay.

In 2019, three CVO models will be offered again.

The trike versions have also been upgraded with new spring elements and a new composite brake system. The 114 engine is also an option on the price list for selected models.

Also in the 2019 range are the limited CVO models, which are equipped with the 117 engine and the new infotainment system as standard. The versions CVO Limited, CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide are available.

The range of accessories has also been expanded. New in the range are, among other things, an adaptive LED headlight kit with cornering lights as well as the Dominion Collection, which allows add-on parts to be individualized, and other Screamin ‘Eagle engine tuning parts.

The range of clothing has also been expanded to include new helmets, jackets and trousers.
