Cruise halfway between the Electra Glide Ultra Classic and the Road King? Certainly more alongside the Electra, from which it takes a good part of the elements. Like her, it is a large road, with a more minimalist style, more refined. Exit the triple gaze to make way for a single big lighthouse; the top-case disappears to leave the line fluid and give the spotlight to the hips of the Street; the tubular protective bars are there but the ones that deflected the air are no longer. It even comes very close to the Electra Glide Standard. It would even be easy to confuse them if it weren’t for this more sylphid saddle and this small-scale windshield. Thinner, less imposing, this Glide wants to cut the road without the clutter of the overflowing canopy of the Electra Ultra Classic. But travelers can rest assured, because the Street still has something to satisfy the great American-style riders..
Rigid saddlebags, an oleo-pneumatic rear suspension, the twin cam 103 and a large fork crown abundantly equipped: electronic tachometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, voltmeter, oil pressure gauge, ambient temperature indicator, and the end at the end, an audio installation by Harman Kardon. The elongated chrome console on the tank never ceases to provoke your retina. Sometimes custom, sometimes cruiser, the Street Glide FLHXI arises as a very interesting alternative to the famous Electra Glide. The seat knows the meaning of the word comfort and driving introduces you to cruising. Relaxation with the melody of on-board Hi-Fi and the rhythm of big Milwaukee twins. The 1690 reserved in 2010 for the Electra Limited is now also installed in this Street Glide (and in the entire Touring range too). Bigger, fatter, it promises more sensations and gives more enthusiasm to the heavy traveler. The new 6-speed gearbox has made some progress but remains very typical. Not too fast in the turns, it rubs quickly. And then, I told you it’s riding, cruising, and Street Glide is made for that. Like its counterparts in the Touring range, the Street was equipped with larger brakes (300 mm in diameter) in 2008 and supplemented with ABS as standard since 2009. The fuel tank increased to 22.7 liters in 2008 makes it possible to travel even longer. And even with more serenity with perhaps the opportunity to have fun (everything is relative). The chassis has been completely revised with a redesigned and stiffened frame, a new swingarm, a 17 “front wheel and a larger rear wheel mounted on a 180.
