The Low Rider is not only part of Harley-Davidson’s current lineup, but also of yesteryear, and especially of the manufacturer’s history. Born almost 40 years ago, this stripped down, rebellious custom, born under the envy of power, fulfills its destiny with this S version. A new definition of performance, driven by a CVO heart.
The S family is very fresh, barely hatched from its exuberance of metal when it already welcomes a third brother. For motorcyclists eager for torque, the S allows you to taste the charms of the big twin 110 ci Screamin ‘Eagle for a price less elitist than the CVO club. In turn, the Low Rider trades its 1690 cm3 twin for a large 1801 cm3 block. More than the gain in horsepower, anecdotal value for the Harley community, it is the leap in torque that fans will remember. Each bowl produces a powerful vibration, to the wobbly and timeless rhythm of the single crankpin of a crankshaft as heavy as lead. It snorts, it belches, and it comes out 15.8 mkg of torque once reached 3500 rpm. Three more than the 103 ci of the standard Low Rider, that is to say 23% more. Copious.
Available in a unique shade of deep black, the Low Rider S offers itself a few fantasies that do not make people laugh but claim its desires of snub. Like its Magnum Gold rims with a magnesium gold finish, like on racing cars from the 1960s. Above all, performance is in the spotlight. From the stubbornness of power of the Twin Cam 110, the sporting desire initiated by the small nose screen and improved suspensions. The two side shocks and the fork are Premium Ride type. Harley intends to improve the handling of this bellicose machine. And selfish; a solo saddle has taken hold of the seat, and the truncated rear fender only confirms the ire of the Low Rider S. Centerpiece of the machine, the engine breathes generously via a maousse air filter and largely put in evidence. The breath is released with a double pot inspired by the Fat Bob. Even the attitude of the rider becomes more threatening with a drag style handlebars. And with the cruise control in series, one can even be reasonable. But who would like it ?!?
Shady but serious and very rican in its conception. The 1800 Low Rider S loves steel, in every section of its tubular frame. Braking is provided by ABS and 3 discs: a double 300 mm with 4-piston calipers at the front, a 292 mm at the rear with a 2-piston caliper. Alongside the Fat Boy S and Slim S, this boosted Low Rider can provoke many candidates. Other side of the coin, this S makes the wallet cough for an additional 3000 euros.
