Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin: The off-road legend returns
For a long time, fans have been waiting for kernige travel Enduros. Now it’s finally out: Honda brings the new edition of its legendary Africa twin at the end of 2015, which will be the world’s only adventure motorcycle with optional double-clutch transmission DCT as "CRF1000L Africa Twin".
Most recently, on the Milan Motorcycle Show EICMA, a prototype called "True Adventure" fans from all over the world made his mouth aqueous. Now you are welcome at the end of 2015 if the completely new Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin is on the market. With a liter of displacement, it will significantly exceed its groundbreaking predecessors XRV650 (1988) and XRV750 (from the end of 1989) to torque and performance. Details do not reveal Honda yet. However, one can assume that the Japanese are based on price and in terms of performance at the market leader BMW R 1200 GS – so the scale is probably 92 kW / 125 hp power for 14.700 euro.
Africa Twin of modern times
The Africa Twin of modern times should be a perfect motorcycle for Adventure trips like their historical predecessors: sturdy, sheer to stop nothing and yet comfortable and agile. She enters the footsteps of the first Africa Twin from 1988. The XRV650 returned to race success at the famous Rally Paris-Dakar with the racing version NXR750V. 1986 to 1989 had won four times in a row driver of the Honda-Werksteams HRC that extremely strapaceous races for man and machine.

On the XRV650 ended at the end of 1989 an increase of the displacement of 100 cc to the XRV750. With its liquid-cooled six -ve valve V-Twin with 742 CCM she was one of the pioneers for the so popular motorcycle genus of travel Enduros. With 45 kW / 61 hp power and 62.7 nm torque, long feather trails, a large petrol tank, a 21 inch front wheel for good selection of banners as well as a double disc brake system front it was well prepared for the off-road insert. After two revisions, the XRV750 Africa Twin was produced essentially unchanged until 2003.
Dakar rally
Also in the run-up to the future Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin, the Japanese motorcycle brand has been involved again in off-road racing: After the 24-year-old absence, the HRS team took part in the Dakar rally in 2013 – with the specially designed racing motorcycle CRF450 rally. When the road machine comes on the market with 1000 CCM, it will be the only machine of its kind worldwide with the optional double-clutch transmission DCT. The latest evolutionary stage of clutch-free semi-automatic semi-automatic should also help the modern adventure motorcycle for breakthrough. For this purpose, the DCT was specially tailored to the off-road insert. In the Honda models VRF1200X, VFR1200F, NC750X and NC750S, the equipment ratio with DCT is already over 50 percent.
