Honda Fireblade (2017)
192 hp for 195 kg
The Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade has watched the lighter-and-stronger competition long enough. The new shows off with spectacular key data and a large package of driver assistants.
As if Honda had been waiting for the 25th birthday of its legendary super sports car: in 2017, the Honda CBR 1000 RR was given F.ireblade possibly the most thorough update of their model history. A power-to-weight ratio of just over 1 kg / PS is unrivaled. And yet, emphasizes Honda, the focus of the Fireblade in the 2017 model year is on best drivability, maximum agility in corners, maximum acceleration and optimum braking behavior. The Honda Fireblade still wants to be no wild berserk, but a powerful, controllable driving machine.
Almost nothing on the hardware was left untouched; According to Honda, 90 percent of all components have been redesigned to either lower weight or higher performance. On the engine alone, the developers saved 2 kilograms by using magnesium components; The tank and muffler of the Honda Fireblade are made of titanium. Overall, the Honda Fireblade was 16 kg lighter than its predecessor.
The new dynamism is of course also reflected in the fairing design: Overall, the Honda Fireblade is significantly narrower and more compact. LED lighting all around contribute to weight savings.
The heart of the electronic assistant is the 5-axis acceleration sensor Bosch MM 5.10. It records the roll and yaw rate as well as the longitudinal, lateral and vertical acceleration of the Honda Fireblade. Based on this data, the nine-stage adjustable traction control (HSTC = Honda Selectable Torque Control), the selectable driving modes and the electronic throttle work together to control performance and tire grip and to correct them if necessary.
The new lean ABS and stoppie detection (RLC = Rear Lift Control) also access the data from the central acceleration sensor. The combination of these two systems, which continuously record the wheel speeds, should enable the greatest possible deceleration with maximum safety and precise control before and in bends.
The three-way adjustable wheelie control is also provided with the data from all sensors; if necessary, it intervenes via the electronic throttle and the injection electronics and keeps the front wheel securely on the ground.
Even the engine braking torque is adjustable on the new Honda Fireblade; the technology responsible for this listens to the abbreviation SEB (Selectable Engine Brake).
Honda had developed many details on the new Honda Fireblade for the approved MotoGP replica RC213V-S; including the central control unit, the TFT display and the electronic throttle with position sensor (APS = Accelerator Position Sensor)
We are curious to see what number will be on the price tags of this killer blade. In any case, the competition can already dress warmly now.
