Honda hit hard with this big roadster like no other. Imposing, bestial, sweating power, the X11 benefits from a stroke of the pencil that can disturb but which turns the eyes. The look is massive although stylized to the end of the counters. The dashboard is also a superb little sculpture, affording the luxury of surprising protection. Although the public was not hooked, the X Eleven nevertheless has everything to be the roadster of the 21st century: aluminum perimeter frame, Dual-CBS braking, HMAS-type suspensions, and watts galore. The propellant unit is taken from the CBR 1100 XX, reworked to get more torque. The power goes down to 136 hp while not depriving itself of inflating the torque curve.
Always so supple and velvety, the boiler transforms the big roadster into a real cannonball. The accelerations are enormous, the resumes dazzling. Sitting in a more sporty position than a roadster, we take pleasure in taking this machine full of punch with ease. Honda has favored efficiency over comfort, with success: the machine is riveted to the ground, attacking with superb curves and laces. It will be less comfortable in the city where its turning radius and its consequent weight represent certain handicaps. You need good grip for maneuvers, taking care to beware of a certain inertia. Braking is a treat: powerful and practically as efficient as ABS. Despite its qualities, the X11 suffered from its ambiguous positioning and offbeat aesthetic.
