Mini e-crossers for the young

With the EE 5, Husqvarna is presenting a fully electric mini cross bike that will be available at dealerships as early as July 2019.

D.he new competition bike in pit bike format is equipped with a 907 Wh lithium-ion battery. This should enable beginners to drive non-stop for up to two hours. In contrast, according to the manufacturer, racing is already over after 25 minutes and the EE 5 has to go to the charging station. A 70-minute break is then required until the battery is fully charged, but 80 percent of the battery capacity is available after 45 minutes.

Seat height with a large adjustment range

The equipment of the EE 5 also includes 6 riding modes in which the engine mobilizes a maximum of 5 kW of power. The 35 millimeter WP XACT fork has 205 millimeters of suspension travel and the directly hinged and fully adjustable WP shock absorber over 185 millimeters. The fork can be adjusted to the rider’s weight and route conditions using the air unit in the left fork leg using an air pump.

The offspring should be particularly pleased with the adjustable seat height, as the bike can be adapted to the current size. Between 653 and 698 millimeters are possible without further changes, together with the optional lowering of the chassis, a minimum of 556 millimeters is possible.

Less than 5,000 euros – without charger

In Germany, the EE 5 will be available from dealers from July 2019. For this, 4.995 euros are due plus additional costs and – according to the Husqvarna website – charger. How much the latter should cost has not yet been answered by Husqvarna. With the charging station, the 5,000 mark will probably be cracked after all.
