EICMA 2019

Husqvarna presented the Norden 901 Concept study at EICMA 2019. At the investor presentation of Pierer Mobility AG, a picture of a possible series north was published.

D.he KTM subsidiary Husqvarna has so far limited itself to crisp enduro bikes, supermotos and cafe racers – all of which are equipped with single-cylinder units from the KTM family. With the Norden 901 Concept study presented at EICMA, Husqvarna is treading a completely new path, because the Norden relies on a two-cylinder and goes for a travel enduro. The investor presentation of Pierer Mobility AG in September 2020 already gives an outlook on what the final production version of the Husvarna Norden 901 could look like.

Front panel fixed to the frame

If you look closely, you will see the KTM 790 Adventure as the base motorcycle of the Norden 901. The in-line two-cylinder in the north uses 889 cm³ displacement, was already shown in the 890 Duke R and has 121 hp there – Husqvarna does not mention data for the north. We assume, however, that it will be tuned differently and that it is somewhat below the Duke in terms of performance. In order to be equipped for off-road use, the Husqvarna Norden 901 has a 21-inch wheel at the front and an 18-inch rim at the rear. The spring elements – a directly hinged central spring strut at the rear and a USD fork at the front – are of course provided by WP Suspension.

Husqvarna

The new Husqvarna concept is based on the KTM 790 Adventure.

The two-cylinder is hidden behind a large engine guard and numerous crash bars. They also enclose the towering, frame-mounted front fairing with LED round headlights and additional headlights, which merge seamlessly into the lush tank area. All brake discs are provided with protective covers. On and on the high stern, softbags that are ideal for travel are spread out. A kind of display appears to be attached to the tank – or possibly just a simple card holder.

In series from the end of 2021

At the EICMA, the Norden 901 was the most beautiful motorcycle for many visitors. She met with a lot of sympathy from all sides. Husqvarna has already officially confirmed that the Norden 901 will go into series production and as a series model will hardly differ from the study shown. The KTM subsidiary does not mention a market launch date. However, we assume that the series model will go into production in 2021.
