Hyosung GV 650 Aquila test
AquilaSunrise
E.A good product is always more than just the sum of its ingredients. Pouring together tequila, orange and lemon juice as well as grenadine and ice cubes does not necessarily result in a good Tequila Sunrise, the mixing ratio is crucial. Due to this fact, one can look forward to the qualities of the Korea cruiser. The Aquila looks as if the developers had dismantled the top cruisers from Harley and the four Japanese, mixed their individual parts wildly and then blindly reassembled them.
For example, the instrument panel and frame are reminiscent of the Harley V-Rod, while the headlights and upside-down fork could be donated to Honda’s VTX 1800
have the cowbells between the
Cylinders are from Kawasaki’s VN 2000
known. The seat and stern were taken from Suzuki’s Intruder M 1600, and last but not least, Yamaha’s Road Star Warrior inspired the toothed belt drive and the howitzer format exhaust.
The Koreans go for the drive
own ways. A V2 provides propulsion, as is typical of the genre, but with a modest 650 cm3 total working volume. In a world of individual cubic capacities of up to one liter, they do not generate any storms of enthusiasm. That is more the price, which at 6,995 euros is half or even a third of the design donors. And thus in the range of the Yamaha Drag Star 650 and Kawasaki VN 800.
For the money you get a representative of the "long and low" concept with plenty of chrome-plated plastic. Low is the seat height of 69 centimeters, while the pilot’s arms are long-
should fall because the handlebars are far from the
Driver remote and also very wide
is. Turning maneuvers therefore also fail-
under simply too short arm length. As for the driving characteristics, is
the Aquila a worthy representative of its kind. It takes a lot of effort to turn into curves, there can be no talk of agility, the minimal one fits with that
Ground clearance. The straight line, however, is ?? A matter of honor ?? flawless.
Tea carburetor-fed 90-degree V2 looks a bit out of place in this environment: It wants to be turned, offers little steam in the lower speed range, but produces plenty of vibrations. The ratio is reversed from around 6000 rpm. It’s just a shame that a switching operation sometimes gets stuck in the game of deflection. How fast you are on the road can only be guessed at when the sun is shining, the display is then hardly readable.
The chassis plays along as long as it goes over reasonably level ground. The fork responds quite insensitively, and the damping of the rear shock absorbers got worse
too soft. Tea brake
however, the front Dop are without blame-
pelscheibe goes to work powerfully and with little hand strength. The processing is neat where-
you can see from a number of components that they shouldn’t cost a lot. The Koreans still have some fine-tuning to do. Then the ingredients could turn into a tasty cocktail. sgl
