This is the story of a Korean twin, with as much ambition as the manufacturer who gave it birth. The Hyosung offensive in the midsize segment began with the Comet roadster, and continues with the R and S sport versions as well as this custom, which skillfully completes the range.. All these machines are powered by a liquid-cooled 647 cc twin cylinder. Built into the Aquila, the mill changes gearbox, which only carries 5 gears here.
Custom certainly, but not like the others. The silhouette of the Aquila responds well to the aesthetic canons of the genre, with a little something youthful. Certain elements have not convinced us of their presence or their usefulness. The inverted fork immediately brings more visual impact, but is it really useful on a custom of this size? Fixed on a support well inspired by that of the Harley V-Rod, the fully digital counter has no real place – we preferred a good old needle counter, as is usual. Speaking of inspiration, it’s impossible not to think of the Yamaha Road Star Warrior with its big exhaust, or the headlight similar to that of the Honda VTX..
The weapons of the Hyosung GV 650 are not its stylistic derivatives. The Aquila is above all one of the lightest customs on the market, offered at an aggressive price, and also the most powerful in its segment. More than 80 hp, since it switched to injection in 2007. It takes, in the competition, much more per liter of displacement to hang this power. Well, for the availability of the couple, it will be a little higher in the towers.
Interesting in more ways than one, L’Aquila 650 has however everything to prove to hope to break through with the Bikers. At a canon price close to that of a small roadster, there are already a few glances that can be turned.
