New model names registered

Indian has registered the two model names Pursuit and Guardian. We can therefore expect two new Indian models soon?

Puff cake! Who in this article with the first official details or even pictures of two new models from traditional US manufacturers I.ndian was unfortunately disappointed. After all, the model names now registered are heating "Pursuit" and "Guardian" the news rumor mill but strongly.

New vehicles for the public service?

The two model names became official at "United States Patent and Trademark Office" and the "Australian intellectual property office" under the category "Motorcycles and structural parts therefor" submitted. Accordingly, there can be two brand new models or matching accessories – however, the two names indicate new models rather than new accessories.

"Pursuit", what translated from English "persecution" means and "Guardian", in German "Guardian", could also indicate new vehicles and vehicles intended for police service. However, it is extremely atypical that models intended for the public service receive completely new model names. Rather, such vehicles get an addition to existing model names – in the case described, for example "Policy" or a simple one "P". The police vehicles from the largest Indian competitor, Harley-Davidson, are called Police Road King or Police Extra Glide in the USA. So it can only be speculated wildly.

And while we’re already speculating, the following fact could point to new police vehicles: As some motorcycle enthusiasts might be aware, Indian has been part of the Polaris group since 2011, which also includes the now defunct Victory brand. In the past, Victory had also produced models specially designed for police use, which were given their own model designation (Enforcer and Commander) – however, neither the designation Enforcer nor Commander were ever officially registered as a model name.

Conclusion

It is still completely unclear whether and when Indian will publish further information about the potential new models. Incidentally, the US manufacturer had already registered two new model names – Renegade and Raven – last year, which we still don’t really know about. So we will unfortunately have to wait a little longer.
