Once taken over by the Polaris group, Indian was offered a very nice rebirth, with high-ranking machines, with premium + positioning and elitist prices. Now that the reputation is anchored, it is time to think about widening the ground of conquest.. Indian now wants to make volume and reach more audiences. For that, no secret, must offer an entry-level machine at an affordable price. Indian’s recipe? Take a Scout, lower it in displacement, cut the price, make some adjustments to the level of the gear on offer, and here is the Scout Sixty. Less cc, less watts, less euros but no less Indian.
Why Sixty? Because its cubic engine is about sixty Cubic Inches. The Americans talk like that. But as we do not understand anything about their measurement systems, we will simplify by specifying that the twin displays 999 cm3. To fall below the 1000 mark, the very modern block of the Scout loses 6 mm of bore. It remains a super-square engine with ribs of 93 x 73.6 mm, more typical for revolutions / minutes than for the fat of the couple. And technological! Sold 10% less for 10% less displacement, the Indian Scout Sixty does not however offer 10% less pleasure than the 1133. Its dress and its chassis are identical. Only performance and chrome go down one category. It is displayed as the discovery of the Indian world, as the 883 allow to put a wheel in the Harley universe.
